Last weekend I spent 3 days camping, hiking, and photographing a small area within Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. As some of you may know, this monument is about to be cut nearly in half, while Bears Ears National Monument is being reduced by about 85%. These areas will then be opened up for development and mining. I rarely ever get political on social media, but this one really hurts me for several reasons. I'm hoping to use the photos and stories I gained from this trip to establish compelling arguments as to why these monuments need to be preserved as they have been. I hope to bring that to you all soon.
