Found myself having lunch in Bethlehem the other morning and shamelessly pulled a tourist move, stopping on the side of the road to capture this amazing view! Playing the role of a tourist I realized that sometimes we take for granted just how lucky we are to live in a place with beauty like the Whites. The effort often times makes way for the reward when it comes to views up here. There are moments however where you simply have to pull over and look around. No effort, simply reward.
Highway 50, so far away...
Traverser le Nevada, en suivant la route la plus solitaire d'Amérique. Une sacré expérience où on se plonge dans l'ouest authentique, loin de tout ! 🙌 ▪ When we cross the Nevada, by the loneliest highway in America... #nevada#travelnevada
The Ring of Steall presented another opportunity to get up onto what is regarded as one of the best ridge walks in Britain. It certainly packs a 🥊. Nasser had to double up on the ibuprofen, but you will find a well defined path which is straight forward to navigate.
We sacrificed the daylight, to start a little later in drier conditions. Thankfully @alicezara had her head torch and was able to guide us back to the car park.
I've really fond memories of this trip, and if you can, you'll traverse four munros, scrambling along narrow, rocky aretes. The route takes in An Gearanach, Stob Choire a Chairn, Am Bodach and follows the Devils Ridge to Sgurr a'Mhaim (fondly nicknamed Suga Mama! 🤣). I haven't even mentioned having to cross a wire bridge, the rainbow, the unicorn, or standing at the feet of Scotlands highest waterfall, Steall waterfall.
Coming down Sgur a'Mhaim with Of Monsters and Men playing, enveloped in darkness and watching the stars unveil themselves was one of those special moments.
It's always great to share these experiences with great people. Here's a wee snippet of the journey to enjoy, follow the link above to catch the full video. Nearly time to try and catch some meteors with hot chocolate. Good luck spotting and happy Sunday. 😊
