Oh my goodness! I had a really tough week this week but today, it was a really great day! I had to go to the DMV to renew my license and take the written! I saw acts of kindness, people from all walks of life, nice conversation & I passed my test! Then spent time with a beautiful friend I hadn't seen in a while. News of sweet Purdy on a grand adventure to Tahoe with potential fosters (lucky girl made it to Tahoe before me! ☺️)
Raced to home to see & tend to Kodi. We went for a walk and when we got home, the moment I reached the top of the steps I see this guy atop one of the chairs on the porch! I let out a squeal of delight as I've been waiting patiently for an encounter this summer! I could have sat there all day chatting with him but he seemed bothered by my instructiveness or was on a mission so I let him be. I needed a good day and what a lovely start to my birthday weekend! I should be going out and listening to some great music but after being gone all day, I just want to love on Kodi and be home with him. I'll be getting my music happy fix this weekend at back to back shows with Rancid, Dropkick Murphy's and my friend Kevin Seconds opening for them at the hometown show in Sacramento and at the Greek in Berkeley! Friends and music, good way to turn 50! 🎉 ***scroll

I'm really surprised with how little I shoot black and white these days. I used to refuse to make color landscapes. Then slowly but surely color started taking over. No I almost primarily make color landscapes. But this day I felt the need for some black and white. So I attached my 29a red filter to my lens and went to work. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

There is very little that can compare to the satisfaction of opening a jar of home canned tomatoes on dark, rainy days; adding to a pot of soup or chili.
Today, I’ve been chopping, peeling, seeding, cooking and canning up tomatoes, including these ones here. In my efforts to live simply and authentically, I always make sure to put aside a few days to preserve.
I wasn’t able to grow my own tomatoes this year, but thankfully, my mom is always happy to share your harvest. Check out today’s stories for what I’ve been working on!
Want to learn how to safely put up your own jar of summer?, to savory later in the year? Check out my Intro to Canning ebook >>> link in profile!

"Summer is golden time for tourism and travel, and that’s particularly true for California wine country. Napa and Sonoma tasting rooms are packed in July and August. The coastal regions and even Lodi get big summer spikes.
That’s not true for El Dorado and Amador counties, the two most prominent regions of the expansive Sierra Foothills. Both struggle through the summer when wine tasters seem to head, well, almost anywhere else. That makes summer a terrific time to visit." Visit link in bio to read more. #edibleSacramento
