This weeks #MWC is I. I am my Woman Crush. I am crushing on myself, 😉👍🏾 YES. When was the last time You, Woman celebrated You? Pat yourself on the back! Men do it, they high five each other, Men do the "I am the Man chant". When have you heard a Woman say, #I am the Woman? Women will get a compliment and then start saying oh this old thing, or if you only knew... Just say thank you, smile and enjoy the compliment. Too many Women don't celebrate self, although there are some exceptions. As the year comes to an end, it's not over yet I am still expecting great things this year. I celebrate myself this year. I celebrate my Successes and failures. Yes, celebrate your failures, they point you in the right direction. Our failures can make us stronger. I celebrate that I rose above obscurity. I choose that my background doesn't limit me. I choose to walk the lonely walk in Corporate, Aeropsace & Defense industry; as one of the few quote on quote "Black" Woman. I choose to be progressive in my career. Even at times when I knew that I had only the Big guy upstairs routing for me (There were a few exceptional people along the way). It wasn't cake walk. I set out on my career at 21, today at 31, I have held roles of increasing responsibilities in Management and Executive positions at technologically cutting edge companies. I am WO-MAN, nothing but I can stop Me. I started my own consulting firm, so I can have time to Focus on the things that matters to me, one of those things is empowering other Women. I went back for my Masters while working full time and had a family, I successfully gained an MBA with focus in Finance, held roles that were deemed for Men, travelled continents to conduct business. I remember when I started out, I was determined but scared, today, I am a Lioness in the Boardroom. I am that Woman you call to be on your team. I am grateful for my journey. September 2017 was the birth of the new me, I choose to walk on water. I choose to build even though it seems impossible. I am building the boat like Noah, because I know my generation and that to come, need me. This time it isn't about me, the Focus is on helping other people achieve the impossible too.
#Currently ... It’s a beautiful fall morning in DC, and I’m here this week for the Nat’l Forum on Family Philanthropy for work. Started the day w/a visit to the MLK Memorial - such a moving tribute and such a poignant reminder of what we truly (should) stand for in this country... #WashingtonDC#MLK#civilrights#IHaveADream 🍂🍁🇺🇸
