And the divorced women should keep themselves in waiting for three courses; and it is not lawful for them that they should conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, if they believe in Allah and the last day; and their husbands have a better right to take them back in the meanwhile if they wish for reconciliation; and they have rights similar to those against them in a just manner, and the men are a degree above them, and Allah is Mighty, Wise.
Realizing I haven't posted on this account for the past few days mostly because I've been focusing on #conversations around the evil display of white supremacist hatred and white supremacist violence that happened last weekend in #charlottesville – what to do about it, how to respond as an #artist – I suppose due to the nature of how this platform is, those conversations have been happening on different social media platforms or best of all, face to face. A lot of my #artwork has always been tied to and #inspired by particular #justice concerns, currently much of it focuses on #environmental issues and #climatechange – which I believe to be the most dangerous threat (of a lot of threats) in this #time that we live – often you only see glimpses of that work on this account, because it is layered, and sometimes slow coming and always for me, there's trying to find the balance between doing the work and getting the work out there to be seen in places like this, which, at least for me, takes effort in itself to do in a thoughtful way, so usually doing the work wins out! In the past my work focused more specifically on #socialjustice issues like #racism#violence#policingsystems#undocumented#immigrants#genocide#humanrights#indigenous rights – in any case, all this to say, the way I process the pain and injustice of this world is through my work and so I've been working on some #visual responses and I'll try to share those soon. In the meantime, I'll try to share some #images#cartoons#infographics I've found helpful over that last few days too. Here's one discussing the nature of #tolerance vs #intolerance based on the thinking of #philosopher#karlpopper – I would add that, also, it is a question of ethics – it is immoral to tolerate intolerant (oppressive/death-bringing) ideologies.
Hiiii, guys. You know, cloudy days make me wanna leave the one I'm with, start a new...flip through my #books . Especially ones with PICTURES. Look: The King of Style: Dressing #MichaelJackson . Some of his #costumes were just amazing, with built-in lights or enough sequins to make Liberace #gay all over again. • The Nutshell Studies! Part histo-biography on Frances Lee Glessner, the old 1940s heiress who built teeny tiny #murder scene dioramas and used them to #train the #ChicagoPolice on how to gitter done. I discovered it way back in the #HamiltonPublicLibrary and it's what got me really interested in the concept of #organizationallearning . Features #CorinneMayBotz . • Miniature Rooms! I LOVE TINY THINGS! I saw these amazing builds on exhibit when I went to #Chicago for a conference. I also saw the #DanielClowes exhibit that week. It was amazing. • Weird Rooms. I'm obsessed with people and their #weird rooms. I found this one at Westside Stories in #HamOnt last summer. • Henry Darger. Thanks to @juliacersone for introducing me to #HenryDarger 's art. His biography is fascinating, as is his work. Check him out, especially if you are a fan of #outsiderart . • Antonio Berni! This man turned garbage into #art and some of his work, over time, told the story of poor children Ramona and Juanito in #industrial /post-industrial #buenosaires#argentina . • New York Underground by Julia Solis. I haven't fully read this #book yet because every time I open it, I get stuck poring over the #images . Basically, underground #NYC is Freak City. It's a subterranean everything: world, economy, home. • #denareads#hamont#book#reading#nonfiction#bookstagram#bookcovers#coverart
