20 January 2018 — What a great day today. I attended my final Refugee mentoring training at @buildinghopeinthecity and I can’t wait to be paired with a Refugee family soon. I also finally made it courtside thanks to @kiamotorsusa + @atnpromo 😁✌🏽 I still can’t believe it. Stop by the @cavs next home game, find the @kiamotorusa car, and enter to win a trip to Los Angeles for the @nba All-Stars game which is in February 2018 (flight, hotel, All-Star game day ticket included, and you can bring a friend). #ATNPromo#BrandAmbassador#Cavs#AllForOne#BuildingHopeInTheCity#Working#WERK 📷 by @susankuilder
Queen @violadavis ✊🏼 She spoke my heart today! As a survivor, woman, and mother who spent 3 months in a homeless shelter with her two small children, I have lived among the voiceless and non-privileged...I was one of them. Unless you have walked in their shoes, I promise you, it is not possible to understand the world that media and society wants to keep hidden from you. And while being a survivor of abuse, no matter what your lifestyle, is something no human deserves; suffering that same abuse without privilege, resources, and the strength that it requires to break the stigma of shame surrounding abuse is something the media has yet to uncover. I hope as we have broken barriers to make feminism less taboo, we will do the same for our sisters, brothers, and children suffering in silence because of social, economical and racial stigmas. ・・・
“Trump is deaf to reason. He talks of revived American greatness. Yet, as president, he has not set foot in California, where American technology and innovation create companies that capture the world’s imagination. All that interests him is that Californians tend to dislike him. Disrespect, whether domestic or foreign, is intolerable to him.” #california#innovation#technology#techcompanies#nytimes#immigrant#immigrant
“Islam and the Quran teach us that when we encounter a challenge, we should try to benefit from it. The election, I hoped, could lead us to strive to be better as individuals and to improve society.” #muslim#islam#immigrant#immigrants#racism#nytimes

Security comes first.
When we need to make a decision we try to think 💭 about every outcome. At least I do.
The security of my health and life in general plays a very important role in my mindset.
Until I realized that the security is my stop 🛑 on the way to success and assimilation in this life.
In the book “You are a badass at making money” @jensincero describes a list of beliefs which turns your life into excuses. And two of them are To have a plan “B” and to have a secure job.
I will tell you my story.
I was a child in 90s. When you say it in Russian most Russians will understand what it means. That time was crazy in my country. Gangs and police were in charge of everything while ordinary people had to find the way to survive.
My parents had secure jobs with fixed salary. Until the factory were they worked could not pay 💰 them anymore. They had a choice to stay there and hope for the future or take the bull by the horns and change their lives.
With a little girl on their hands, college degrees and no knowledge in the sales they had to go to the market to sell items, products.
Were they scared? I am sure they were. One day my mom said to me that she was glad that her mom didn’t see her in that situation ( my grandma died a year before I was born). Despite of the fact that their social status had changed, they never regretted anything. They did what they had to.
After awhile they had to make another choice to leave that place and start a new business.
Were they scared? I am sure they were.
This is the life. Based on the decisions which take you from the comfort zone. From your zone of security.
That’s how you learn.
The security will be a huge question for some of you when it comes to moving abroad.
The change is incredible: your job, your friends, you home, your life.
But security doesn’t guarantee that your life will be good. It could be stable without ups and downs but it also could swallow you into the swamp.
How important is the security for you?
Been in this spot since 1926. Erected by a Polish Jewish #immigrant , worked his way as an errand boy in San Francisco then moved to Portland 2 years later, made it big. Built this statue for the city. #oldportland
I just marched the streets of Seattle at the #2018womensmarch . It’s totally expiring to see how many people are against the regime that actively fucks with my life, and many many more people beyond mess a queer undocumented immigrant. I’m constantly overwhelmed by the current state of everything. But I’m inspired and empowered the the non complacent people and citizens who are actively fighting for justice and human rights. Do not normalize this shithole or his administration. Resist, VOTE, get them the fuck out because they do not represent us! #seattle#seattlewomxnsmarch#feminist#immigrant#qpoc#resist#dumptrump#dreamactnow#heretostay
Yesterday we took action against Congressman Gottheimer, a Democrat who voted to deport the dreamers. We will continue to take action to raise our voices for the DREAM Clean Act and protection for all immigrants. The closure of the Government is because of Trump, the Republicans and some Democrats who do not want to reach an agreement for 800,000 DREAMers, despite the fact that the vast majority of the country wants a path for citizenship for the young. The closure of Trump means that government social security, Medicare and other key programs are closed. We need a resolution soon for all DREAMers and their families.
Being mindful! At this point, let me dwell here in my present for a while before I overcome the past and carve out a new future. .
A little bit of me and my heart has been left behind in India. Especially, after my most recent trip. And often I wonder how different it is to be a migrant when compared to be a traveler. When you travel, you always know that you will be back to your home someday. Refreshed and rejuvenated.
But when you migrate, the sole reason you do so is to create a new home, far from the one where you were born, where your half of the life has been spent. This search for new home and to ensure it comforts is very daunting at times, especially, if you keep feeling homesick once in a while.
So, the life keeps moving between this urge to create new comfort zones, to ensure that you grow healthy and prosperous. .
I’ve had such a lovely weekend despite the fact they really shut down the government just to deny us a citizenship smfh nonetheless shoutout to all the cuties that kept me company.
ALSO shout out to @pointfoundation for giving undocuqueer scholarships. THANK YOU!!
