It's January, but feeling like spring time over here in Oklahoma. Orange and Coriander in the diffuser sure know how to make you really feel like it's March!! 🌱Coriander is really good for the Digestive and Hormonal systems- do a little googling and figure out which organ is effected by both of those systems! 🌱Orange is rich in limonene and oh my goodness the benefits that has!! If you are feeling a bit stressed out at the moment a few tweaks to your diet can help.
Obviously food won't remove the source of the stress, but what you eat can ease the psychological implications.
Here are a few tips to aid stress management through diet.
🍏Keep your blood sugar balanced by eating low GI foods such as whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats and fresh fruits and vegetables. 🍎Increase your omega 3 intake by eating oily fish such as salmon to reduce mood swings, anger, depression and mental burnout.
🍏Increase Vitamin B intake to maintain a healthy nervous system by eating brown rice and oats.
🍎Increase your zinc intake by eating prawns and pumpkin seeds to support the immune system, which gets a bashing when we are under stress. 🍏Eat more magnesium by upping your intake of green leafy vegetables such as kale. I am always craving green veg when I'm stressed as the magnesium in it helps muscle fibres to relax, making us less tense and wound up.

This is what will be in Leo's trick or treat bag this year. He still gets to have yummy treats with less of the yuck. He will be trick or treating with friends but at the end we will swap out all the candy for some healthier alternatives. Leo hates being sick and we hate when Leo is sick so keeping the sugar to a minimum is really important for a properly running immune system. Pictured here are some of his favorites! I've mentioned before that one of the biggest benefits of bringing essential oils into our home has been the immune system support we have experienced. I gave in for some organic whole wheat pita today with my kale and tomato. I was talking to food specialist for children last night and they were talking about being a cycle eater. I think I've been like that my whole life but I don't really think it's probably very healthy if you are trying to be an athlete of any kind.
