Knowledge is power... We've all heard that a billion times, maybe being knowledgable is simply coincidental instead of behind an outright sole requirement to success (at least compared to everything else that it takes to succeed). That being said, there's no shortage of incredibly smart people that consistently underperform. I'd say #implementation of knowledge is true power. As in mastery, over information overload. #EXECUTE
A word you will come to both love and hate as an entrepreneur. While sometimes it is great to provide flexibility when working with clients, it can also go too far. Do you think you are flexible in business?
#BizzeebobberProjectManagement - each software implementation involves a configuration phase, just after the Requirements and Discovery segment. (Not talking about the perspective of a developer here). Some (business analysts, config specialists, PMs, etc) elect to do agile (and begin the build / config right away) others take on a waterfall methodology (let's gather all info first before starting the build / config); either way, here are 2 things you should consider for the configuration phase (as a non-developer):
1. Functional testing (light QA). I suggest doing this just after the build / config, so simple mistakes can be caught. There will be deeper levels of testing prior to live, but the configuration resource should find "stupid mistakes", so time isn't wasted prior to additional rounds of testing (integrated, end to end, etc). ➡for developed code, the developer should have done some diligence and QA, too.
2. Always configure in a TEST environment first. Even if super experienced, you want to keep environments in synch. I am victim to this too - configuring directly in PROD or a LIVE environment, because I am confident. However, bypassing controls and procedures is not using good integrity or helping a client's interests.
