Built damaged and built again, the existing structure of Kamakhya Devi Temple is credited to Ahom Dynasty of North Eastern region of India. One of the 'shakti peeth' or revered seat of goddess, the temple was associated with 'tantrik culture' something like dark cult.
A fascinating story about the temple is that for five days every month the goddess menstruates....Devotees claim to have seen red fluid flowing from the temple and consider it highly auspicious.
I did not see anything like that though. Descending down the dark steps that led deep down in the dark interiors of temple slightly unnerved me however because of my phobia of unknown or incomprehensible may be... Or may be it was because of over zealous priests who insisted I cough up certain amount of money to receive blessings. I promptly refused...My reason? I believe God doesn't differentiate between those who donate or those who don't .... I donate when I feel like it not because certain Goodman threatens me of ill luck or wrath of goddess. I believe God is not vengeful as humans are and God would never hurt his children.
Bandra Sundays... no picture can capture the crowds, the chaos and the abundance of life that is omnipresent in the tiny lanes of Bandra West... just finished our errands for the week - home appliances, cushion covers, fruits, oils, wine glasses... all in hundreds of tiny stores within 50m on chapel road... in between autos, scooters, cycles, churches, mosques and art - here parts of the Bombay art project... #OnlyInBombay
