My daily dose of flavonoids and polyphenols!! I eat these EVERY day! Keeping autoimmune disease/inflammatory response in check can get complicated especially when it comes to changing your diet (which is honestly not an option if you suffer from these things) but starting with something simple like adding yummy flavonoid rich berries into your morning breakfast is immensely beneficial. (Hint: the smaller berries are the most nutrient dense) We have a tendency to kitchen sink things that require change (especially when it involves our eating habits) and they become so overwhelming that you don’t even know where to start and just discard the idea entirely. Start with one thing at a time and when it becomes routine (because it will, I promise) add or take away something else. Add the yummy stuff into your diet first because it makes it easier to stick to and gives you healthier snack alternatives! :)

And I’ve found the keys to staying pain free and not get sick despite the amount of people who are sick around me.
Honey lemon green tea with a shot of ACV and a side of Black Seed Oil.
Damn, I forgot to show ya the Vick’s, it’s like magic. I put it on my feet before I go work outside every night, trust me it’ll make your feet warm while providing cough relief.
Thank me later 💋
I saw this post and had to repost this. Being titled as “Lupus fact #1 ” It really describes what lupus is and what it does very well. If we were to switch the terms and try grasping the concept of what it says in this picture in more simpler terms, I think it will help you guys understand it even better. So here goes :
__Lets think of the antibodies as an army; soldiers there to protect your body. Their job is to communicate with other members and signal each other if there are any invaders (a flu, a cold, a virus) — now let’s say an invader enters the battlefield, well the “Lupus Army” goes and actually teams up with them and backstabs you, your body by targeting you .. all of you. It’s as if the lupus army just becomes loopie and can not tell what to protect and what to destroy. In a more medical term, they can not tell self from non self. They basically get blind sighted by the “beauty” of the invaders that they think of them as their own, thus leading to the army getting invested in targeting you, in specific your body’s organs.
I do want to emphasize that It really depends on each individuals immune system, their battleground - how strong is your body’s game ?? Lol *
__Now, in my wonderful case - the target organs are my pair of scarred Lungs. One thing I can not stress enough is our friend, Mr. Inflammation. Once the battle has reached a peak, Which is in some cases also known as an inflammatory response - the term Lupus Flare is used (which is confirmed with specific blood tests). At this point the more severe the attack the more severe the Lupus flare. ☹️
__Have a good day guys, stay positive - keep your head up high keep fighting. You got this! 👊🏼 ________________________________________________
I had a proper ‘rest’ day today. Spent time on my Level 3 PT & Gym Instructor online Diploma coursework, as well as my blog. Today I blog about Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness & Rhabdomyolysis. Take a read! Jillswellness.wordpress.com
This is just a wonderful reminder of how important it is to pay close attention to any changes in our furbabies! So glad this precious girl recovered quickly from her bee sting ❤️🐕 My boy got stung last year thinking it was a fly to play with 🤦♀️We first noticed blood where he had been scratching and then the swelling appeared. Thankfully we caught it early! So please keep a close eye on your furry friend when they explore the outdoors and call your vet if you notice any changes. #beesting#dogbeesting#inflammatoryresponse#poorpup#bewareofbees#notavet#antiinflammatory#seeyourvet#observeforchange#Repost @kiama_vet_hospital (@get_repost)
This poor little pooch was stung by a bee 🐝
She was the sadest little sausage dog with a swollen muzzle, we treated with some antihistamine and happy days for this flower lover 🌼 guess it's hard to avoid bees when your legs are this short 😂 #dachshund#beesting#kiamavets#daschundsofinstagram
I highly encourage the book “How Not To Die” by Michael Greger, MD Just like every book, read with an open mind and understand we all have unique chemistries...but I think the common theme is EAT MORE PLANT BASED!! There are too many amazing studies proving 90% plant based eating has REVERSED chronic diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and Type 2 Diabetes and the Neuropathy that comes with it! Not to mention weight! “Pain and ill health are strong motivating factors”......TRUTH! Sadly, we have abundance of resources and often know we need to lose weight, exercise more, reduce stress, etc. but it’s not until we are really experiencing the worst symptoms that we finally get real!
I keep stressing this....DITCH the DIET mentality and just start eating REAL FOOD from nature! Increasing your intake of veggies, fruit, legumes, whole grains, and nuts and seeds will 1) fill you up because the foods are mainly water and fiber 2) naturally reset the body without counting calories and obsessing over portion control!
Did you know?!....”Having a potbelly May be a strong predictor of premature death”
Your vital organs are being surrounded by FAT!!! Restricting optimal blood flow and functioning of the organs. Potbellies are often associated with diabetics, this is why those with Type 2 Diabetes have a much higher risk of stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, and....premature death. Also, those under extreme stress are more at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes due to Cortisol being thrown off and as a result affecting blood sugar and insulin. Those with Adrenal Fatigue are at risk for all those nasty outcomes of Type 2 Diabetes if not managed and reversed as well!
So for those who gag at the idea of eating more plants and eliminating junk food and sugar. Or who are proud of their heavy meat and potatoes meals, you may want to get more serious about seriously changing your eating and lifestyle habits.
Getting serious is about doing what it takes! I, myself, am doing that currently. I sought out the help of a functional medicine doctor to confirm what I already knew...adrenal fatigue! But I needed it confirmed.
Such a great little chart showing the drastic effects of inflammation on our bodies.
Did you know that large amounts of collagen in organic bone broth naturally fights inflammation (especially in the guts and joints)? True story! But did you also know that we also add natural inflammation-fighters (such as Reishi Mushrooms and Schisandra berries) to our broth to boost it's healing properties? Also a true story! If you suffer from any of these inflammatory issues, give our broth a try for six weeks to truly experience the amazing healing change it will bring to your body!

🌀Cortisol and Clear Skin 🌀
Cortisol is a hormone that occurs naturally in our bodies; when administered for medical purposes, it’s called hydrocortisone. Cortisol has many functions in the body but it is most commonly prescribed for inflammation caused by allergic reaction. 🤒Inflammation occurs when the body’s white blood cells are working to protect the body against bacteria or other foreign substances. This inflammatory response also occurs with acne caused by bacteria, and comes in the form of unflattering redness and swelling – not to mention, soreness! Although it may be something you’ve never heard of, hydrocortisone can be applied topically to treat inflammation for acne, making it less apparent and easier to conceal. It doesn’t treat acne, but it makes for a great quick fix!
Today's feature is good old Polysporin. This particular tube is filled with hydrocortisone, my secret acne fighting tool! Shhhh... 🤐 I find that it works well to reduce redness and even soreness, when the soreness is caused by swelling. I get a lot of acne, of all different sorts. Cystic acne is probably the acne type I use this most for because of the extreme redness of surrounding tissues. While it won't get rid of acne on its own, it works to recuse redness and swelling really quickly. We all know speed is key when that special event or date is coming up!! -----
#summerofstem Today's theme lined up well with my photo: outdoors! I love being outside but allergies to everything that grows makes it hard to enjoy all the summery goodness :( -----
K so this is the last time I'm going to explain my red chest. It's a combination of sun damage and its a reminder of not to be careless in the sun. I also suffer from an immune disorder which causes severe inflammation throughout my entire body and leaves me in pain 90 percent of my life. I don't whine , I don't complain because it is what it is. I've never played the whoa is me card, not in my DNA .So instead of being an ignorant fuk mind your business and worry about yourself. Walk 1 day in my shoes and you'd be crying like a little bitch. I plan on getting it treated with laser but until then it's me. Anyhow now that we got that outta the way still got abs ( a lil fluffy) but hey again it is what it is. I don't photoshop any of my shit and I'm not afraid to post the good, the bad and the ugly because at the end of the day I love to share my journey but it isn't always pretty. Zozo stole too many cherries yesterday and kept me up all night with a sore belly so it's a late start😩 #coffeeplease#opinionsarelikeassholes#mindyourbusiness#idome#youdoyou#thegoodthebadtheugly#womenwholift#womenwithcalves#ateeverythinglastnight 😂#inflammatoryresponse#immunedisorders#imafuckingwarrior#howdoyoulikemenow#trainingwhateveriwant 💋💋💋
Erica Julson joins Rebecca this week to talk all about food sensitivities, allergies and intolerances. Erica has a background in health psychology and retrained as a registered dietitian nutritionist to follow her passion for helping people to eat well for health. She and Rebecca get into the differences between immune and digestive responses to food, and how to know which you have. They also talk about how reducing inflammatory response is key when treating SIBO, and how vitamin deficiencies can lead to autoimmunity issues. Erica also explains why eating as broad a diet as possible is key to our overall health and wellbeing.

Ugh. I got cheesed. I got careless at the salad bar and went for the hardboiled eggs in my Wednesday salad. Well some cheese musta fallen in there and got in my salad. I could taste it but it was too late. My cheeks are normally pink but when I get dairy or gluten or soy, my body has a huge inflammation response and my cheeks get redder like I'm in the hot sun :( I get congested and if I willingly eat a bunch of it or get it many days in a row I'll almost certainly get a sinus infection.
Gluten is worse. I'll get dizzy even and then we'll just say it's downhill after it gets swallowed.
It's hard for family and friends to really get that I don't eat these things Bc they cause my body harm and discomfort. It's been over 4years since I've gone 100% off those Foods and it's made a difference. Also it really grinds my gears when people say inflammatory responses to food is made up. It's not, it's just not a normal response. Normal ppl please eat your dairy and gluten.
If you think you have an "intolerance" listen to your body. Food should give you energy, not snot up and turn beet red. #dairyfree#glutenfree#igotcheesed#itsnotbychoice#soyfree#reallymakesyouparanoid#listentoyourbody#inflammatoryresponse#nothanks

You dedicate your life to a routine: you train hard, eat right, supplement right, and try to get enough sleep. But what if all that hard work and supplementation was being sabotaged by poor gut health?
The digestive system is really the corner stone of our wellbeing, as it is involved in so many processes. If our digestive system is in order, we feel great, we can perform at the level we want, and we can push ourselves to make bigger and better gains in the gym.
If our gut health is poor, we can end up with impaired immune and nervous systems, and it can also wreak havoc with our hormonal function throughout the body. This is because our gastrointestinal tract is loaded with neurons that release the same neurotransmitters found in the brain. This is why you have "gut feelings" and any upset to this equilibrium can throw your body and mood into chaos.
This "leaky gut" means that instead of foods being broken down, absorbed, and eliminated, partially digested foods can now cross through the damaged area of the intestinal lining and enter the blood stream directly. This leak can cause intolerances that then initiate an inflammatory response in the body and the release of stress hormones. One of these stress hormones is cortisol, which further taxes the body and starts to impair the body's immune system. This can then lead to a host of issues that may not seem related to the impaired gastrointestinal tract, like allergies, skin conditions, impaired performance, and stubborn weight gain to name but a few.
Triplex by Plexus is formulated to help heal leaky gut and enriches the unique ecosystem in your gut . Get really healthy and try it . Link in bio to purchase. Thank you.
#didyouknowthat#oregano is a must-have oil for supporting your immune system. I cannot stress this point enough!! Oregano can support healthy toenails and help smooth tough skin when applied topically. Interestingly, oregano oil can also support a healthy inflammatory response and help ease occasional #muscleaches when applied topically.
It can encourage clear breathing. Topical application of oregano oil can provide a #warming affect to the body too. Be aware, oregano is considered a hot oil, so always dilute significantly when using topically or diffusing. The aroma of oregano helps one to release negativity and pride, and be open and teachable.
Internally, it supports healthy, balanced #flora in the digestive system and a healthy #metabolism#nowyouknow
#didyouknowthat#lavender ...where to begin... seriously guys, I have pages of notes just summarizing the many uses of lavender! Lavender is the "other" when-in-doubt oil.
It is great for all things skin - it is both #cleansing and #soothing and supports healthy skin cell functioning. Along those same lines, it supports a #healthyscalp and #healthyhair It is a fabulous oil for new mommas, particularly for its soothing abilities - post labor, if/when starting breastfeeding - which can be challenging for both parties - and for supporting momma and baby sleep and transition.
Lavender also supports a healthy #inflammatoryresponse and center help ease minor aches and pains. On that note, lavender is gentle enough to provide soothing support when baby's teeth are surfacing. Some folks even find lavender useful to relax the jaw and help reduce #teethgrinding#nowyouknow
