I saw this post and had to repost this. Being titled as “Lupus fact #1” It really describes what lupus is and what it does very well. If we were to switch the terms and try grasping the concept of what it says in this picture in more simpler terms, I think it will help you guys understand it even better. So here goes : 
__Lets think of the antibodies as an army; soldiers there to protect your body. Their job is to communicate with other members and signal each other if there are any invaders (a flu, a cold, a virus) — now let’s say an invader enters the battlefield, well the “Lupus Army” goes and actually teams up with them and backstabs you, your body by targeting you .. all of you. It’s as if the lupus army just becomes loopie and can not tell what to protect and what to destroy. In a more medical term, they can not tell self from non self. They basically get blind sighted by the “beauty” of the invaders that they think of them as their own, thus leading to the army getting invested in targeting you, in specific your body’s organs. 
I do want to emphasize that It really depends on each individuals immune system, their battleground - how strong is your body’s game ?? Lol *

__Now, in my wonderful case - the target organs are my pair of scarred Lungs. One thing I can not stress enough is our friend, Mr. Inflammation. Once the battle has reached a peak, Which is in some cases also known as an inflammatory response - the term Lupus Flare is used (which is confirmed with specific blood tests). At this point the more severe the attack the more severe the Lupus flare. ☹️

Was not interested in going for a walk this morning. Indulged in a delicious cupcake containing sugar yesterday so my joints are sore, back feels stiff, sugar withdrawal migraine brewing, it's cold and raining lightly, it's Sunday. I could have easily stayed in my warm, comfy bed. 
But I got up and I went out and walked. 5 laps around the block and 40min later and I'm feeling really good for it 😎💪 Don't let one decision that takes you off your path derail your entire journey. Get back on track, accept the consequences, learn from it.

Back at clean eating between all the thanksgiving dinners this week. I’m trying my best not to indulge between these large meals because it sets me back so much. It’s great to go and eat big meals with friends and family but it’s when it becomes a habit that it starts to set you back. 
This mornings breakfast was a savoury one: salmon, sweet potatoes, and a spicy pickled ginger and cabbage slaw. 
This meal filled me up and kept me from having a inflammation attack from over eating inflammatory foods.

When I look at the #photo I notice the stark difference and muscle imbalance between my two legs. Part of the beauty and simplicity of #standingmeditation is the ability to address issues like this in a safe, non intense, and progressive way.

So glad this precious girl recovered quickly from her bee sting ❤️🐕 My boy got stung last year thinking it was a fly to play with 🤦‍♀️We first noticed blood where he had been scratching and then the swelling appeared. Thankfully we caught it early! She was the sadest little sausage dog with a swollen muzzle, we treated with some antihistamine and happy days for this flower lover 🌼 guess it's hard to avoid bees when your legs are this short 😂 #dachshund #beesting #kiamavets #daschundsofinstagram

Cortisol is a hormone that occurs naturally in our bodies; when administered for medical purposes, it’s called hydrocortisone. Cortisol has many functions in the body but it is most commonly prescribed for inflammation caused by allergic reaction. 🤒Inflammation occurs when the body’s white blood cells are working to protect the body against bacteria or other foreign substances. This inflammatory response also occurs with acne caused by bacteria, and comes in the form of unflattering redness and swelling – not to mention, soreness! Although it may be something you’ve never heard of, hydrocortisone can be applied topically to treat inflammation for acne, making it less apparent and easier to conceal. Today's feature is good old Polysporin. This particular tube is filled with hydrocortisone, my secret acne fighting tool! Shhhh... 🤐 I find that it works well to reduce redness and even soreness, when the soreness is caused by swelling. I get a lot of acne, of all different sorts. Cystic acne is probably the acne type I use this most for because of the extreme redness of surrounding tissues. While it won't get rid of acne on its own, it works to recuse redness and swelling really quickly. We all know speed is key when that special event or date is coming up!! -----

K so this is the last time I'm going to explain my red chest. It's a combination of sun damage and its a reminder of not to be careless in the sun. I also suffer from an immune disorder which causes severe inflammation throughout my entire body and leaves me in pain 90 percent of my life. Ugh. I got cheesed. I got careless at the salad bar and went for the hardboiled eggs in my Wednesday salad. Well some cheese musta fallen in there and got in my salad.  I could taste it but it was too late. My cheeks are normally pink but when I get dairy or gluten or soy, my body has a huge inflammation response and my cheeks get redder like I'm in the hot sun :( I get congested and if I willingly eat a bunch of it or get it many days in a row I'll almost certainly get a sinus infection. 
Gluten is worse. I'll get dizzy even and then we'll just say it's downhill after it gets swallowed. 
It's hard for family and friends to really get that I don't eat these things Bc they cause my body harm and discomfort. It's been over 4years since I've gone 100% off those Foods and it's made a difference. Also it really grinds my gears when people say inflammatory responses to food is made up. It's not, it's just not a normal response.  Normal ppl please eat your dairy and gluten.

Gluten is worse. I'll get dizzy even and then we'll just say it's downhill after it gets swallowed. It is great for all things skin - it is both #cleansing and #soothing and supports healthy skin cell functioning. Along those same lines, it supports a #healthyscalp and #healthyhair  It is a fabulous oil for new mommas, particularly for its soothing abilities - post labor, if/when starting breastfeeding - which can be challenging for both parties - and for supporting momma and baby sleep and transition.

Lavender also supports a healthy #inflammatoryresponse and center help ease minor aches and pains. On that note, lavender is gentle enough to provide soothing support when baby's teeth are surfacing. Some folks even find lavender useful to relax the jaw and help reduce #teethgrinding

Different seasons, different teams, but some things stay the same: sore muscles and joints. This is a great blend to use on problem areas both before and after practice. 10-15 drops of each in a 10mL roller and top with a carrier oil. 
The combo promotes a healthy #inflammatoryresponse and is very #soothing.  Trying to come up with a great name for this one. Any ideas? (And it's perfect for non-athletes too! I know I have mornings where this helps me work thru my stiffness faster)
