A crazy journey through local tribes and villages in Africa where I've gotten to eat local foods, dance with some incredible dancers, talk to some amazing people and learn about their stories, learn more about local cultures and history, admire those that have been through difficulties who keep powering through which is all around, see the ugly side of people getting rich off of people's miss fortune with lack of education, visit Mandelas house, riding a horse for the first time in Malawi, go to places I never knew existed that in not a third world country would be filled with tourists, end up in a hospital in Africa which was actually a dispensary, have kids dance around me, children touching my skin in amazement, be bitten by a lot of bees, sleep under the stars surrounded by the big 5 including lions, go to a witch doctor, be sick in a helicopter (sorry @jorosch42 @caseyboots93 for putting you guys through this 😅), hi-five what feels like thousands of children, exercise with the local kids, go clubbing with the locals, working with an incredible organisation @marafikicommunity , going to a gospel church, getting selfies with heaps of people I just met, making so many forever friends...And this is just in Africa
I've never felt so much warmth and happiness from the people there.
Then we head to the UK and Europe where it feels like it was just food then history then food then history then food then history, and oh my tourists galore haha but truely some incredible places. It almost felt like I was stepping back in time the more I learnt.
It's crazy to learn that most historical conflicts have always been about religion or race..how crazy is it that it doesn't appear we have changed much now being in the year 2017. This has probably been one of the biggest eye openers. Let's not make the same mistakes that out predecessors made, let's learn from them.

Totally need to shoutout my sister @courtneyskramer !! She is freaking CRUSHING it and I am just so proud of her!! Court is on her #postpartum journey and is down 10 lbs and 16 inches. She has not missed a workout in 33 days and is giving her body all the good stuff because that's what you do when you've got goals (not even a donut ... and girl LOVES her donuts)!! But dude ... this isn't about what she has lost - this is SOOOOO about what she has GAINED.
Belief. Confidence. Control. Self 💗. Vision.
She is showing up even on the tough days and proving to herself that she is worth it. Her daughter will grow up with mom taking care of herself as the norm (and that right there ... that's the freaking good stuff). Keep it up sister! You are a new mom, on your wellness journey, supporting other women and leading a team.

Today was the day.
I just finished my last day of work.
I feel so free and excited!
The weights on my shoulders are gone.
The stress of a long day is gone.

I can feel my creativity blossoming like an apple tree on a warm spring day.

What is the most common issue I see throughout the fitness Community? The idea that "more is better" when it comes to fitness. Unfortunately you can be diving down a dark path that is complicated to come out of.
It's not uncommon to think that you can just workout harder, eat less and then see amazing results happen. All you are doing is setting your body up for metabolic stress and sub par physique/ performance in the gym. Which is farther away from the actual goal.
What most people forget is that training and being in a caloric deficit is stress on the body. In order for fat loss to happen, your body needs to adapt to the stresses your placing on it until you place too much stress and your body simply stops working in your favor. Hence why so many people hit a plateau and weight loss stalls, training is no longer fun and your nutrition is no longer sustainable.
Don't you think there is a better way? There sure is and that is to do less in the gym and bring intensity down while increasing your food intake ( reverse dieting). Plus you can add in rest days that allow your body to repair. Even though more is better seems rational, your body is a little smarter than you and simply wants you to survive!! .

It was some ridiculous o'clock time in the middle of the night, Miss P. was up feeding and the boss man woke for a cuddle at the same time!
She was on the boob and he curled up on my legs/knees!
Getting them both to bed after this shot was definitely a challenge! I can safely say while sometimes I can't quite believe I have a 2 and (almost!) 5 year old, I don't miss the never ending, winter nights on the floor or in the chair! The saying is so true "the days are long, but the years are short"
A week or two ago I vaguely posted about planning my trip to a horse rescue to bring them some much needed supplies and visit to learn a bit about how a horse rescue is ran.
We went to @equine_outreach_bend and I fell in love with all the horses and the people. I learned how to groom a horse and had a tour of the facility.
I took the rescue cases of water and snacks, office supplies, sunscreen, epsom salt, hydrogen peroxide, tissues, towels, and many more items.
I will be posting over the next couple days about my visit. I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity. (For those of you who don't know it is my mission to raise $1 million (in money and supplies) for rescue animals by the time I graduate high school. It is a lofty goal but I think that as time moves forward and more hear about it things will begin to move more quickly. ❤️)
"Committing to the right process is a critical part of success, but it's no magic pill. There's no one giant step that will get you from where you are to where you want to be. If you want a six-pack, nothing you can do today will get you a six-pack tomorrow. The only thing that works is pounding on your craft, day in and day out, doing the right things over and over and over again. Ask yourself where you are now and where you want to be instead. Ask yourself what you're willing to do to get there. And then make a plan to get there."
Hint: Most people aren't eating enough calorically, nor are they consuming appropriate macro distributions for the activity and lifestyle they live. If you spend more than an hour in the gym on the daily, your carb and calorie consumption should reflect that. You'd be amazed how many times the solution to a person's ailments entails dialing down exercise, modifying protein/carb/fat levels, and slowly dialing up overall intake to a higher caloric allotment.
It's also important to understand that we cannot chronically live in a deficit / always be dieting. Especially for females, it's important to understand periodization - there should be times of the year when you make a push to eat at a slight surplus and walk around a few pounds heavier to maximize strength gain.
Right now is actually that time: you should be chasing strength gains in the gym. Around the later end of November is when you would be in the clear to start leaning out, if you wanted better aesthetics or to be lighter for the CF Open.
Just remember, nobody really gets stronger during Open Season, because you're riding on the tail end of the work you put in the other 3/4 of the year. If you dieted that whole time... whoops. There's always next year.

I was listening to a lil Personal Development (PD, if you will...) today and the author said, "If someone asked you, 'What's your life's purpose?' What would you say?" My instant thought was, "to help people." Since I was a child, my mom says I had always wanted to "help people" when I grew up.
