I love the tradition of saving the top tier of the wedding cake to celebrate the christening of the newlyweds' first child. Here's little Freddie's cake - made by his great grandmother and utterly delicious! Do you have the same or a similar tradition in your country?
Did you know that Cypress essential oil can help with fluid retention? Create a massage blend by combining 3 drops of Cypress oil with 10mL of base oil, such as Sweet Almond. Then massage over problem areas to help bring relief. Caution: Cypress oil is not to be used during pregnancy. #oilgardentips
Basically just this, we've gone all autumnal this week, I know it is still August but it's chilly, rainy and these colours are just too wonderful to ignore.
No Blomst London at the @e17villagemarket for a few weeks (holibobs time), but we have a few extra bouquets that can be delivered tomorrow (for free in E10, E11 and E17) or collected. Get involved, send me a message and we will sort for you 💕
My fragrant bouquet. Roses, tuber rose, king protea, little succulent roses, blushing bride proteas and along with my ' blue bird of happiness ' my Mothers pearl corsage from her wedding in 1957. Something old, something new... Keeping traditions and making new ones.
Another one from inside @bombaysapphireuk's tropical greenhouse at its Hampshire distillery. The structure was designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Olympic cauldron and routemaster bus fame. #otherpeoplesgardens
♥️🌿 #naturelover#fern#farn#illustration#aquarellblümelei#inspiredbynature#art
The wild larder is abundant this year, and in particular there seem to be a huge amount of elderberries ripening. I always use them for elderberry syrup which wards off coughs and colds over the winter, and is delicious, sweet and gently warming...
But it's also a sign autumn is speeding towards us, the evenings shortening rapidly and the mornings cooler and mistier. I'm counterbalancing that with organising seeds for sowing and overwintering in September so however dark the days of winter become, the promise of spring is always there.
If you haven't seen my insta stories check them out... I am soooo excited to announce we will be doing a pop up in the fabulous @pedenandpringle design studio from Monday 21st August for the next couple of weeks, culminating in an amazing @edinburghgossipgirls event. @pedenandpringle Is a new kitchen design studio based in my neck of the Edinburgh woods, Colinton Village. They create bespoke kitchens, and have the best taste, ideas and creativity. Just check out their gorgeous shop front (the step is @ca_pietra_ tiles and is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼) This event is going to be epic as the best chef in #edinburgh , Sean Clark, owner and head chef at @the.table.edinburgh (and as many who follow me will too well know my absolute favourite restaurant ever) will be cooking up a storm. This is a massive coup as there's a 3 month waiting list to get into the restaurant. Alongside this I will have lots of goodies for sale in my pop up.
If you can't make the event (it's only open to @edinburghgossipgirls members) please come and see us. Camilla and Adam from @pedenandpringle are completely lovely and their studio is so beautiful and I am really looking forwards to being able to meet customers face to face and show some of my products in the 'flesh'. We would love to see any of you, even if you just want to come in and say hi! We could probably rustle up a coffee or 2! ☕️
Does anyone have any tips for drying hydrangeas? In a vase with/ without water? Or hang upside down? 🌸 My mother in law gave me these beauties and I'd love to get it right this year! Happy Thursday 💜 #hydrangealove#floralpickmeup#beautifulblooms
Dear souls, this coming Monday I start running a new online (but live) class. It's called The Creative Edge and I set it up because I'd been thinking a lot about form in recent weeks and how comfortable (and in some cases bored, frustrated and out of alignment) I'd become with my external expression in the world. I began to notice how much fear I was holding around taking steps in new directions. So many ideas were coming but I was blocking each that came and boiling it down there was always a fear there. So I started to give myself a little permission to explore and play and test again. A few videos here and there, some live interviews, some chalk pen messages on mirrors like this one. Small movements but ones that felt good. And I extended the idea to explore and push boundaries outwards to others and people were interested. They wanted a place where they could explore their creative edges amongst like-minded people. And so I created The Creative Edge. It's a 4 week class for creative (meant in the broadest sense) entrepreneurs where you'll set your own creative goals and we'll explore together, a whole lot of support, guidance and encouragement along the way. So if you've been feeling the fear and know there's a new edge for you to explore in the direction you're most called to go, I'd love to welcome you in. You can find the link in my bio. (Registration closes this Friday.) ❤️❤️
