I wanted to create a ginger liqueur that would be less sweet than the Domaine des Cantons, but that would still be as complex and rich. I am pleased to say that I succeeded! I like my homemade liqueur more than the Domaine des Cantons (and it’s so much cheaper!). I still poured it in the DdC bottle, because its convenient (recipe at the bottom of this post). It works so well in this great cocktail. Oh and by the way, I don't make these #cocktails just for me or JF (don't worry mom and dad, we're not turning into alcoholics!!). This one was for our friend @yourdy36 who welcomed us at his house in Bend.
The Gold Rush
1 part Ginger Liqueur
1 ½ part Bourbon
½ part fresh lemon juice
Lemongrass and cardamom bitters
Shake and strain into Martini glass.
2 ounces peeled ginger root, thinly sliced
½ vanilla bean, split in half
Peel from 1 orange (no white pith)
1 cup Brandy
½ cup overproof Vodka
Put everything in 1-quart Mason jar. Put lid and shake. Leave in a dark cupboard for 2-4 weeks, giving it a daily shake. Strain berries and put back in cleaned jar and back in the cupboard for another week. Strain again with cheesecloth. Add rich syrup to taste (heat 2 cups sugar with 1 cup water until all the sugar is dissolved, let cool and add to taste to the berry-infused vodka). Store in a mason jar or other glass container IN THE FRIDGE for up to 3 months.

When the @theamateurmixologist asked me to participate in #peacepours , a campaign to celebrate #worldpeaceday today, I wanted to come up with an original cocktail...buuuuut I kept coming back to this Last Word variation I created a few months back. Each element of this lovely drink fits what I had in mind - it's green 🌿, equal parts ✊🏼, includes American and international ingredients, and is a beautiful balance of bitter, sweet, and hella strong 💪🏼 : .
Intense Last Word
3/4 Green Chartreuse
3/4 Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur
3/4 Fresh Lime Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled. Strain into a cooled coupe glass. Garnish with your favorite herb.

I’m pretty sure @wildturkey just took a shot at the LTD community! 😉 They posted this video with the tag line “Life’s too short to spend that long making a drink.” Really? I’m happy to wait 2 minutes for a great cocktail!!! Judging by the fact the cocktail in the video was smoked, well garnished and incorporated some fire...It seems like they are taking a shot of the cocktails we post around here! So @wildturkey - point taken...We will stop using your whiskey for any cocktails! 😂

I loved "shaking" things up this week with the lovely ladies of @theeverygirl_ and @cointreau at @celestechicago while looking flawless thanks to @influenster and @makeupforeverus Ultra HD Foundation. I learned how to mix up the perfect cocktail using Cointreau and feel confident behind the bar now! The Sidecar & White Lady were both refreshing and delicious! And I recently found my new go to foundation thanks to my most recent Vox Box from Influenster. Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation goes on light but offers full coverage while also moisturizing my skin. I'm in love with it and Cointreau! I think I'm going to host a cocktail making soirée at my place this fall or winter now that I've learned The Art of La Soirée! Who wants to come? 🍹 💄 🍹 💄 .
