Another exercise I’ve been adding in alongside some posterior chain TRX exercises is Single Leg (SL) Hip Thrusts with no weight. 🏋🏻♀️
My left hamstring/glute Needs strengthened big time and I felt major DOMS after these last week! ➖
Still can’t quite do any hip hinging but I think we’re slowly getting there! 🐌
When doing these, a few points:
1️⃣Brace your core! This helps prevent over extension of the lumbar spine (lower back). I always tell my clients to imagine someone is about to punch them in the stomach 👊🏼 (bit extreme?👀😆) and you’re likely to ‘tense’ or squeeze your core to protect your organs - try it!
2️⃣Tuck your chin - look forward! Again, this helps to neutralise the spine and again prevents that over extension (very important when doing Barbell versions)❗️
3️⃣Drive through your heel! Avoid shifting your weight to your toes to maximise Glute activation! 🍑
4️⃣Squeeze at the top and drop the hips again SLOWLY!
Was in the shop and found these two bottles sitting next to each other just like this. A product of Ireland and Mauritius...and then there's me 😂
I don't drink alcohol but this was a random chance that of all the stouts/beers you could find in the world, next to each other would be an Irish and Mauritian! Made me laugh anyway 😝😂😝 A lot of random chance meetings have happened over the last month for me...I bumped into a gentleman and his family in a square full of people in Jordan - turned out to be an Irishman from Tipp living and studying Arabic in Amman. He left me with an appropriate and fitting Arabic saying... "رب صدفة خير من ألف ميعاد" "A chance meeting is better than a thousand appointments!" I've had some wonderful meetings over the last month and I'm sure 2018 is going to be a bigger and better year!
