I've had lots of requests for this so here we go !
Starting 8th Of October for 4 weeks, I will be running a Sunday morning training group (11am) on bull island, Clontarf.
Suitable for all fitness levels. Don't be intimidated, come have fun !
This will be unlike anything you've done before, we will fully immerse your mind, body and spirit in the natural environment during these sessions.
Using elements from many disciplines, including natural movement, HIIT training, aerobic work, strength training, calisthenics, mobility, flexibility and even breath work and mindfulness! !
But the single most important thing about these sessions is that they will be FUN ! There is so much seriousness and stiffness about training these days, I want to bring back the element of play which is so important for us grown up kids :) Just bring an open mind and a full heart (and some water). Shoes are optional.
Sessions will last an hour and we will fully embrace the natural elements.
Cost : €10 per session (pay on the day)
I guarantee you will come away from these sessions feeling loose, refreshed and awesome !

Tonites class looked for a strong but technical Deadlift set of 3 x 3. Our focus for the past few weeks, is training the hamstring and using it more so that our backs are not taking all the load. This is paying off, across every class. - • -

2 minute drill to undo a full day of sitting #GLC2000#LoveYourJoints
SIMPLE SQUAT DRILL ALERT!
This really is as simple as it looks.
The first thing I do when I screen someone is check their squat.
Sadly, more often than not, it isn't a pretty sight. BUT, this drill here is a brilliant start, OR good drill to use even if you can squat.
The more time spent in a squat, the better, in my opinion.
It's no miracle that most Asian countries have the lowest knee and hip replacement surgeries.
Squats for breakfast, lunch & dinner! 👉🏼Focus on depth. 👉🏼Focus on weight through the centre of the foot. 👉🏼Focus on really Pulling the chest up and through-feeling some pressure through the mid back is normal. 👉🏼Focus on knees out and tracking over first or second toe.
Most importantly, just get into a squat and practice.
Simple. Effective and it really WORKS.

You can get strong without much gear or even a lot of weight. You just change the angles to increase the leverage and BAM ! A 16kg feels like a 32 kg.
This is a quick and dirty strength session you can do anywhere with just a 16kg bell. These are single leg variations that most people should be OK with.
5 rounds of 10-12 reps each of :

@KatarinaWiemeyer: Something pretty magical is happening at the moment, weights that I have been chasing for a very long time have finally started to become consistent.
Weightlifting as a sport isn't full of rainbows and unicorns, for me it's about constant and consistent effort, even when for weeks or months at a time it feels like you aren't making any progress or that your are actually going backwards.
It's about continuing to show up, keeping on putting in the work, building confidence and the reward is a few weeks of magic when things start to come together and you finally start consistently hitting the lifts you have been chasing and have had your mind set on hitting.
Still plenty of work to do and I guess it's Time to set some new goals, keep my head down and continue moving forward, oh and enjoy the process.
