☀️My kitchen is featured in the June/July edition of Irish Kitchens & Bathrooms☀️ As an artist & interior stylish I'm delighted to have my work featured in one of Ireland's leading interior magazines. ☀️This is a little (well, a little bit long actually) bit about how it all came together. If you are still with me, I'd dreamt of having a kitchen with a sea view and herbs at hand at the door and this one has it in bucket loads. It also had to accommodate frequent family & friend gathering either to chat, eat or just pass through. I felt that if it didn't look too much like a kitchen it would serve many purposes hence there are no overhead units and the main sink is out of view around the corner. I've had many kitchens in my time from old Irish farm house to French 'throw it together beautifully looks' when we got a chance to build from new and hide all the gadgets, again when the trend at the time was to have them on display! The furniture had to have that 'made at separate times' feel and not be too matching. The Tiffany style lighting was also a find at a time when hanging sleek drop down lighting was the thing. It was also a chance to hang plenty of my painting there too, even over to the side of the cooker. That surprises a lot of people but that particular painting is very resilient because it's painted in hard wearing artist acrylic paint and it I s not framed either. A good wipe down now and again and it's as good as new!
Even though I have a separate studio upstairs in the house, buyers always gravitate to the kitchen and many a painting has sold from there too. It has definitely been the most rewarding kitchen I've ever had and is a dream to cook in, everything is to hand. I've even been able to have small cookery demonstrations in it. If I had to I'd do it all over again in another home, I'd have it exactly the same way, it works and pleases my aesthetics immensely.
Aren't these Lily Side tables from @tomfaulknerfurniture just beautiful! We have these beautiful coloured marble and black steel duo in store now. We are delighted to be representing Tom Faulkner here in Ireland. Ireland!
Thank you @hildabydesign for the #widn . I’m sitting in the garden editing photos of my recent visit to @kilruddery. It’s such a beautiful place place that I took a TON of pics! This is the magnificent orangery, commissioned by Harriot Brabazon, wife of the 11th Earl of Meath. It was inspired by the Crystal Palace in London and was designed and built by William Burns in 1852, although the original roof was replaced in the year 2000. The classical statues on display were collected by the 11th earl on his Grand Tour of Italy. My favourite part of the story, however, is that the countess sold her tiara to pay for the construction of the orangery, and the design of the moulding along the roof is taken from that tiara. Selling a tiara to fund home improvements? Now that’s a lady after my own heart! 👑
Would @creativeyokeblog and @ruby.loves like to play?
