Situated in Wexford, 20 year old twins Brandon and Ashley combine to create The Ocelots. They have crafted their songwriting and musical experience together to produce a forceful blend of rich harmonies and bare, raw acoustic #folk . Their music perfectly embodies the breezy effortlessness of early Bob Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel. Deeply embedded in the #Irishmusic scene, The Ocelots have showcased their music in Irish Festivals like Body & Soul, Spirit of Folk, Hard Working Class Heroes and Electric Picnic, whilst also playing Irelands top venues such as Whelans,
Sweeney's, The Ruby Sessions and Cyprus Avenue.
The Ocelots maintain their largely independent #music trail by
frequenting different cities all across Europe. Playing shows in places like Paris, Rome, London, Edinburgh, Munich, Cologne, as well as residencies all throughout Germany, Denmark and Italy - and now we are bringing them to Limerick!
The two brothers platform their music through various live video channels where they perform in random pop up locations around cities and countrysides. They feature on popular youtube channels such as Sofar London, Sofar Lisbon, Berlin Sessions, Joe Sessions and rising lmmaker Christian Tierney’s channel.
Following the release of their video with the Cardinal Sessions in Cologne they were voted among the Top 5 Cardinal Sessions favourite bands of the year alongside Courtney Barnett as well as being featured as one of the top ten bands of the summer by lovindublin. They were voted Irish band of the week by Dublin Concerts and as top 10 bands to hear by The Last Mixed Tape.
The brothers plan release of their first EP this summer. Recorded in a farmhouse in Croatia with Munich based producer Patrick Thompson, they have high hopes for the success of the launch.
@tcolearys is becoming a leader in supporting traditional Irish music, song, and culture in Portland. Great to see such turnout on a Monday evening. Michael Steen, Brian Ó hAirt, and Sean Frenette put on a wonderful performance showcasing more modern pub songs and some older traditional ballads. Audience participation was of no short supply. Some recordings soon to be posted!
