Dublin football captain Stephen Cluxton is welcomed by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina during the Dublin Senior Men's and Ladies Football squads visit to Áras an Uachtaráin in Phoenix Park, Dublin.
I've had a rough couple of months... experienced a rollercoaster of emotions - shock, grief, anger, disappointment but being in the Áras last night and hearing the @PresidentIRL talk about an inclusive and equal Ireland has been so healing for me! I know in my heart that my dream for an inclusive, equal and compassionate world where all residents can live fuller and more authentic lives is possible. I'm so proud to be an Irish citizen! #ireland#irishpresident
When the O’Halloran’s met the the president of Ireland and his lovely wife at a cultural performance night @te_papa. Great to have him visit NZ and show the Irish ☘️ community are not forgotten down this side of the world. #irishpresident#michaeldhiggins
It was a pleasure to see Irish President Michael D Higgins and First Lady Sabina visit the Hyde Park Barracks and State Library in Sydney this morning. One of the President's Irish security detail had noticed I was keen to get a lot of pics and signalled over to me. I thought I was in trouble but he then signalled to one of the President's senior members of staff to ask him to let me get closer to the President to get some much better pics. He readily agreed. A kind and sweet gesture on both their parts I thought. Thank you. I then had a conversation with the staff member who asked about my life. I mentioned my Irish partner and he brought up the marriage equality debate taking place in Australia. He seemed pretty clued up and reassured me (without any prompting on my part) that the President had been following the debate here but because of his neutral position as Head of State he was unable to comment publicly. We then shook hands and went our ways. Looking forward to seeing the President again when he addresses staff and students at the University of New South Wales tomorrow x #MichaelDHiggins#Ireland#postyouryes#yes#statelibraryofnewsouthwales#statelibraryofnsw#statelibrary#irishpresident#presidentofireland#sydney#australia#australian#hydeparkbarracks#presidentofireland#irishpresident
