Last weekend I went to Dublin Vegfest! 💖😄 If you have never been to a vegan festival before, it's basically a giant market with loads of cool talks and fun people 😊🦄💕 •
I have been vegan for over 3 years, and when I first went vegan I knew no one else who was. I had no idea what I was doing but I had heard about the health benefits so I wanted to give it a try😄 I watched dozens of YouTube videos to learn about what to eat, and ended up eating really simple wholefoods because there wasn't that many alternative products available yet. Now 90% of my friends are vegan and there is literally a vegan version of every single one of my old favourite foods! It's amazing how quickly this community is growing and it really does blow my mind!! I mean, they even have vegan Ben and Jerry's ice-cream now! 🍦🍦 The world is changing and I'm so happy to be a part of it 😊
Have you ever considered going vegan? Believe me when I say I NEVER thought I'd be vegan. I thought it was too restrictive and a bit weird. But it changed my whole life, opened my eyes to the reality of factory farming and helped improve my health and overall wellbeing 😊 I've never looked back! If you need any tips and tricks check out my YouTube channel or send me a DM. I would love to help you go vegan! 💕
ANYWAY... The point of this post was to let you know that my Dublin Vegfest vlog is now live on YouTube, yay! Featuring the amazing @jamesaspey , @earthlinged, @patrikbaboumian, @jamiedoyleofficial and @survivingnowthriving 💖 Check it out through the link in my bio 🍭🍦🍰🍌🐸
VEGAN HAIR&BEAUTY LETTERKENNY 🌓🌓🌓
Yesssss you read that right! You can now get your wash and blow dry, and your make up done -with vegan products- all under the same roof in Letterkenny. I'll have a full blogpost up soon going into detail. Thank you to @petermarkhair and @beautylandletterkenny for making me feel special on my trip home recently. I loved the look ❤️
Had one of the best meals of my life! For one of my last meals in Dublin, we went to Brother Hubbard and got the "Middle East Feast" which came with appetizer platter (photo 3), with aubergine veggie roll for my main (photo 2), while my dinner bud got cauliflower steak for her main. All vegan 3 course meal sign me up! 15/10 recommend it was incredible and I was full for almost a day after this 😳
Over the past few months I've become pretty good friends with an organic sheep and cattle famer. Not your typical duo 😂 I like asking him questions as he knows what he's on about and is very honest and unbiased.
Q: Some people claim that cows make more milk than their calves can drink, and if they are not milked they get infections and are in pain due to their udders swelling, do you have to take the surplus milk from your non dairy cows when they have a calf?
A: My cows have an average milk yeild and their calves drink all the milk. I don't keep them for their milk so I leave them to their own devices. In the dairy industry however the calf is removed from the mother at birth, and all the milk is taken, the cow is impregnated every year to ensure she produces high quality milk in large quantities.
Q: So in reality, cows, like other mammals make the amount of milk that is taken from them, so even though their calf is gone they keep making the amount that is taken each day by humans? And have dairy cows been bred to produce more milk?
A: Yes dairy cows produce more milk, as long as they have a calf every year. You could keep milking them for two years after a calf, but the quality and quantity of the milk would decrease and wouldn't be financially viable for farmers. The male calves are a by-product and their meat is pretty poor quality, in Ireland they are developing a way to split the male and female sperm during artificial isemintaion to produce an 80% chance of a female calf being born to dairy cows.
Q:What about people who keep cows and say the cow produces milk for ten years after having a calf? How does that work?
A:It's abit like some women who decide to breast feed their children until they are 6 or 7. Cows can continue producing milk as long as milk is being taken but it can leave them vulnerable to infections. If the demand stopped they would stop producing milk.
Q: If left to their own devices do cows naturally wean their calf off their milk? I've heard milk is bad for calves over a certain age?
A:Cows start pushing their calves away when they have fully developed teeth as it becomes painful for them to feed so that's not an valid point.
I wanted to write a blog post about this but my computer is banjaxed - again. 😑
When I was home a few weeks ago me and my family tried out the new Lemon Tree in town. i heard about the lemon tree's vegan option before being a stir fry - so I was hoping they had improved on their vegan options. Well they did. It was absolutely amazing! There were 3 options for starter and 3 for main course. That almost never happens! Aside from having actual option, the options were delicious and elegant and so so creative. This picture was my main course and it was my first time having arrancini. It was one of the best vegan meals I've ever had in a non/vegan restaurant. No joke! And what made it all the better was the fact that all the veggies are sourced from my favourite farm - Ballyholey! Fresh, local and organic. It's the best thing to ever happen Lk town no joke 😂😂💚💚
Im going home today!! 🇮🇪😍 can't wait to try some of my favourite things from home! Hopefully there'll be some my mum's traditional porridge bread which, yes, is vegan! It's my most popular recipe on my blog check it out here:
Also a trip to good old Letterkenny town wouldn't be complete without a dander down to @wholegreen.ie! And now that @guinness is vegan, who wants to join me for a glass? 😎 Ireland I'm going to trust you for this weekend and bring summer attire home, if anyone sees me turning blue just put something warm over me. Or make me a cup of tea. ☘️
What cakes do we have today... Hmmm how about a gigantic scrumtious slice of chocolate cake or a calming victoria sponge?? ^^ Maybe you are in the mood for something crunchy and fun which is why we have chocolate biscuit cake. Plenty more here, you'll just have to call and see 😉
@miam_bakery in 'Oh My Donut, 23a Washington Street West, Cork city'. Here until the 1st September so I hope to meet as many vegans and curious as possible before then.

What vegans eat....same as you but probably tastier 🤣 Some dishes were inspired by @finsfitfood @imalittlevegan @thehappypear @susanjanekitchen @rozannapurcell @addictedtodates @frysfamily Always so important to follow foodies to stay food woke ☺️🤘
Vegan cooking is 👌 and easy.

✈️✈️ + 🌹 = 👁🔮🤘
Fleet + Flower was started at Copenhagen airport; I wanted a 100% organic, vegan, cruelty-free essential oil that was blended to its highest concentration, crystal infused and blessed with reiki. I couldn't find one...so I made it. I love it and use to when meditation if, in place of perfume, when I'd love some grounding earth vibes.
