#allbrowneverything can only mean one thing...Hospital! Taken a little over a week ago as we checked in for my induction. BIRTH PLAN: ▫️quiet, dark environment ▫️as natural as possible (no interventions) ▫️ no pitocin/epidural (nitrous oxide to be my only pain management drug)▫️led candles ▫️lavender oil in diffuser ▫️calm music in background REAL REALITY: ▪️induction because little guy wouldn’t come on his own ▪️pitocin...which makes contractions way more painful ▪️dr had to break my water because it wouldn’t on its own, also more painful contractions ▪️no led candles or diffuser or music was set up. I was in so much pain for active labor I wouldn’t have noticed any of them anyway ▪️after being in labor for 24 hrs with no medication and only 6cm dilated...I caved and got the epidural ▪️anesthesiologist came in and started talking loudly and tried to make small talk with everyone and joke while administering it (I wanted to 👊🏼 him but I felt like he was literally about to save my life and I couldn’t risk it 😂)〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️I learned in my early 20’s not to make plans in life because you only get let down if they don’t work out. I’ve been so lucky thus far and even with this birth plan in mind, reflecting back, everything happened as it was supposed to! I’m ok with the outcome and the power of my body even though not how it was planned. Women...our bodies are incredible! 💪🏻

Catching Sperm 🎣
A quick video of a sperm being selected for insemination. We look for the ones with the best “normal” morphology that also has good progressive motilty. That means that the sperm is swimming forward at a good speed
We cut the tail to activate the sperm and start the “acrosome reaction”, a process that normally occurs naturally when egg and sperm meet but with ICSI we inject so we bypass this mechanism so thus we have to manually start the acrosome reaction
Improper activation ie poor cutting may result in fert failure as the sperm will not switch on even though its inside the egg
ABSOLUTELY the experience of the Embryologist determines the fert outcome and development days 1-6 so always discuss with the lab who is doing your case. There is alot of variation btw staff and everyone always knows “the better one”! For icsi you would expect on avg btw 80-85% fert but a top embryologist will get around 90% or higher.

Alright, 10 days until we move into our new home. I haven’t packed a single thing, hubby is going away Monday, we still don’t have a driveway or a fence or grass for that matter... and my darling son just threw his breakfast on the floor. And washing.. why do I always have so much bloody washing! Keep calm & Breathe...... 😬😬😬
So sad I didn’t get to take a nice picture of him in his little tux but heres a cute picture anyways. He literally was knocked out the whole reception until the last hour than he was the hit of the party!! #TechnicallyChi#JTTMcConnell
Around 6 months ago I was reading an article in a magazine and it had some amazing stories about women who had been egg donors. The stories really touched me and I though why should I not do something like that? I’m 22, have a child of my own and other than my own child I have that have nothing I’m really proud of. I want to do a selfless deed ( although nothing is really selfless as you always gain satisfaction from helping someone) and really want to help someone who is unable to have a child.
So in November I contacted a clinic to discuss how I go about potentially donating, they gave me a form and asked me to send to back.
Once sent off they called to say everything on the form looked fine and they wanted to book me in for an appointment for a screening, so one was booked.
A couple of weeks later I went for the screening had a ultra scan put up my vagina and it turned out I had 20 follicles in each ovary (a very high amount.) The doctor asked if I grow facial hair, which thankfully I don’t and he said the amount of follicles I have could be a sign of PCOS however since I’ve already had a child I shouldn’t have a problem at the moment.
The doctor said that this should be a great amount of eggs that would be produced for donating.
After they took me into a room, asked more questions about myself and described how the process works.
They then took blood samples ( I’m absolutely terrified of needles!) to check for STI, cystic fibrosis and several other genetic tests. They said the results of these can take a few weeks.
So a couple of weeks ago I got a phone call to say all tests have come back clear! I have also been matched with two couples, one being a surrogate.
Although I’m so nervous about donating my eggs more so about the side affects as there have been no long term studies however the fact I may help a 2 couples on there journey of having a baby I can not be more excited!
I had my final scan before egg collection today! My womb is BEAUTIFUL! I am expected to release around 6 eggs but my consultant assured me that with my track record (I have a 3yr old girl and had a miscarriage) my eggs should be of great quality and not to worry.
IM SO EXCITED!!!!!! I just can’t believe how close I am. I hope it works. If I’m this excited now I don’t know what I’ll be like on Tuesday! Come on follys!! Keep growing and give me some great eggs!!!
Thai chicken egg fried rice. 1syn for the Thai sauce.
I realise my plate doesn’t have a third speed, but I have been really hungry this week and the carbs really fill me and it means I’m not tempted to snack on millions of biscuits dipped in peanut butter (yes that’s my thing 🤭)
I skipped breakfast but on my break I had a huge apple chopped up and mixed with Greek yogurt, a Weetabix and 2tsp of mincemeat for 2syns. it was gammon stew for lunch again. Yummy!
It was so fun not knowing the gender of our baby throughout our pregnancy. I remember being so sure that we were having a boy that I started buying more boy like clothes rather than gender neutral clothes. ( I just throw a bow or head wrap on these clothes now to make her look more girly.)I was 99% sure that we were having a boy. We didn’t even bother to pick out a full girl’s name. I’ll never forget how stunned we were in the delivery room. Justin was so shocked that he just stood there frozen and the nurse had to grab his phone and take the pictures. Honestly, I wanted to be a boy mom. My thought on it was that little boys love their mom their entire life and little girls grow to love their mom later in life. Today, I wouldn’t change a single thing. I couldn’t imagine not having this little girl! #gendersurprise#halogisellle#ivfsuccess#pregnantafterinfertility#ivfbaby#preemie#babygirl#girlsareawesome#dockatot
