Each day, we make the love of learning a lifelong habit ❤️
This week, the Eggs sang 'I'm A Small Bean' and read 'Jack And The Beanstalk'. They worked on Magic Beans Patterns and making shapes with colourful counters - an introduction to different forms, colours, sorting and counting.
The Hatchling letter of the week was B. They wrote Vertical B's- a motor activity designed to strengthen upper body movement while practicing writing the letter B on the windows. The book of the week was Jack and the Beanstalk. The Hatchlings had fun with a sensory activity recreating the giant's castle in the clouds. They also took part in a dramatic play activity incorporating the science of gravity; designing a parachute for Jack to escape the giant!
This week, the Ducklings took a look at ecology, the environment and recycling. They learned about recycling and conserving. They sorted recyclables, found out how things are recycled and made their own paper with seeds that can be planted later. They made art with recyclable objects too. For dramatic play, they of cleaned up and sorted rubbish that had marred our usually pristine playground. The Ducklings felt like heroes for saving their playground. In phonics they focused on the digraph 'QU' and made a quacking card!
The theme of the week for Ducks was Food! We talked about how food is made - bread and noodles in particular. We then looked at how food is digested. During Science, we examined water density, growing food, and dried food. For English class this week the Ducks described what animals eat, then presented their ideas to the class. They also focused on action words, and writing recipes. They compared and discussed cakes in other cultures (Vietnamese, Chinese and Malay kuih), and talked about life in a long house. In Math, they looked at money, currency and denomination.
