In Jewish mysticism, pomegranates represent the mystical or spiritual experience. My time in Israel these last couple weeks has been just that. From the physical--tasting exotic spices in the shouk in Jerusalem; feeling a warm wind come in off the hills to roll over the Dead Sea--to the emotional--crying over the graves of soldiers killed too young; my heart aching as we flew over the Atlantic away from new friends who live so far away--everything added up to a deeply spiritual experience. It's something I'll carry with me forever.
I'm proud to say that Israel feels like a second home to me at this point, and for this first time in my life I'm proud to call myself a Jew.
