Y O U ' RE THE VOICE
A special thread emerged while taking a fun look at the awkward and brilliant Grand Final music moments on the blog.
As Farnhams 'You're the voice' popped up during research I couldn't help but wonder.... Wouldn’t it be amazing to have the entire G crowd sing a version of ‘You’re the voice’ on Grand Final Day to support the campaign against Domestic Violence?
With partner organisations The Luke Batty Foundation and The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation at the forefront of everyone’s minds, an entire sporting code would dare declare on the biggest day of the year that it will not sit in silence.
The message would be breathtaking.
Katie Noonan began a campaign against DV in July by recording a new version of ‘You’re the voice’
Listening to it during researching this wee piece it was impossible to ignore the profound new meaning it now holds.
Can you imagine a more powerful intersection of sport and song than 100,000 AFL fans singing an Australian anthem and giving voice to the voiceless? Or a more poignant statement from the premier Australian football code?
That is a Grand Final moment that would surpass any Super Bowl glamour.
I dare you @afl
