CJLO welcomes Joyce N’sana, our first artist in residence in the World Music category.
As we welcome our first artist in residence in the world music category, we take this time to introduce to you the artist's backstory.
Marked by the Congolese wars, Joyce N’sana first arrived in Quebec in 2009, bringing a message of unity conducted by the art of peace and the culture of resilience. Mixing Afro-blues and Hip Hop sonorities to her Reggae and Gospel roots, the Congolo-Canadian brings to our musical and cultural mosaic a refreshing sound that she labels Afrobluehop. Globally inter-connected, bordeless, revolutionary, afro-punk, the singer and songwriter successfully expose an organic dimension of freedom that feels good both to the soul and ears.
Her talent has been notice by Mondomix, les Nuits d’Afrique de Montréal, where she got a Mention of Honour at les Syli d’Or in 2013, and Diversité Artistique Montréal and Quartier des Spectacles named her “Coup de Coeur” at Vision Diversité 2014.
We are proud to welcome and count #JoyceNsana as part of our artist in residence program!!
