Kechara Food Bank programme is one of the long-term solutions we work towards to get food supplies and daily essentials for urban poor families. A group of KSK volunteers delivered provisions to the poor families in KL and Selangor areas. They were very happy to receive the food and we are glad that the food items kindly donated by sponsors alike will be put to good use for the needy. #kecharafoodbank#foodbank
Thank you to #SegiFresh who are one of the sponsors to the #FoodBank ❤️🙏🏼 I'm hoping to get more sponsors to participate in #FoodBank program especially supermarkets instead of throwing away food to be part of #zerofoodwastage and help the #FoodBank program
Kechara - Back To School Program 2017
For the past 2 weeks, a few of our angels went sourcing for school uniforms, school shoes, school bags and stationery for a total of 91 primary and secondary school students from 32 families registered under our Food Bank programme.
The distribution rounds started on the 4th December and by 11th December, all 91 needy children were already well equipped with the necessities for school to reopen in January. You can sense the sort of relief the parent(s) when receiving the items. It was written all over their faces (most of them single mothers), knowing that they need not worry for their children can now go to school and do not have to worry about finding the money to pay for uniforms and shoes.
It is indeed extremely sad and frustrating to see educational opportunities denied due to poverty. Education is one of the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and by providing them with these essential school items which they can ill afford, these young promising students are able to go to school and at least have access to education.
Thanks to generous donations, we were able to help ease the burden of these 32 needy families. As the response was extremely good, each child were also be able to receive RM200 cash to pay their school fees and excercise books.
Thank you very much to the wonderful team La Hong, Annie Lee, Lillian Chen, Shobana Sivalingam, Nithya, Elaine Lee and Elsie Yeoh, Ryan and Katie for making all the logistics effort making sure they don't trouble the families to travel.
To All Our Dear Donors... Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! May there be more angels like you to spread more love and compassion. We hope to extend this to the next year as well!
