After spending 6ish weeks weeks away from the barbell in October/November, I had to take another 3 weeks away in December due to some lower back pain. I turned down a meet with my team I had been looking forward to. I have gone up a weight class, but have yet to see the progress on the bar because of the time off. I struggle with being too hard on myself. I'll admit, I compare myself to others daily and beat myself up...it's part of a competitive personality. This year I'm taking a step back and loving myself. I weightlift because it brings me joy and I love the focus the sport brings. I love the community and friendships it has brought to me. I love the mentality it forces you to have - in training and life in general. I am proud of the thousands of reps I have put in up to this point. This year I am determined to create the strongest me...mentally and physically. Trying to gain my strength back so I've had to lower my working numbers and focus on technique. I'm excited for what's ahead. On that note...today's menu called for EMOM snatches, clean and jerks, and 5s on squats...the most cardio I've done in like a year. 😜 #leggggooooo#weightlifting#snatch#cleanandjerk#backsquat#keeppulling#63ish#usaw#alwaysproud#neversatisfied#hungryformore#strengthisbeauty @keeppulling
The journey of success doesn’t come easy and although my posts are all glorious and lots of weight, the time in the gym has been put in. The consistency, balance, focus and more importantly support has happened over a looonnggggg period of time. So here’s the 3 things that’s happened and changed to aid in my success
All 3 together has and is finally coming together to creat amazing things!
Nothing has happened over night and it’s had its struggles, set backs and plenty of ups but even double downs. So my words to you is stay focused and stay consistent. Enjoy the process and enjoy the journey. Take everything full steam ahead. Live. Learn. Adapt. .
Thank you to my team for another 15# PR on my jerk complex! Ended here today with 290# then a push to 300# from @movemassrunfast
It's max out week. So we hit deads tonight, I did not want to count the weight, if I knew I'd psych myself out too much. The last time I maxed, I hit 250lbs. This was 285lbs and I lost it. Lost. It. Still crying, still can't believe the progress. If you ever wanted to get stronger, I recommend you come talk to @bendowen @glimpesofalex @sharpieoutcast at @stxathletics .
Thanks for the support tonight! @brooksy_c
Definitely a video long time overdue. Too often I see people halfway strung up trying to do assisted pull-ups, this is one of the most effective methods that I’ve stolen from the inter webs. ⠀
If you’ve ever used an assisted pull-up machine, this method feels exactly like so. The varied tension here allows to work the eccentric portion of the movement more effectively. Additionally, having the band placed where both feet can sit flat on its surface enables you to keep your entire body straight (the correct form method) versus having even the slightest hip flexion during the pull. ⠀
Try it out!! See how you like it!⠀
Also @mfitwod is here!! Shoot over there for today’s workout!!
