Ketogenic isn't about food it's about biochemistry. It's about changing metabolism to a state of Ketosis where you're burning fat for energy and generating ketone bodies, period. Low Carb, Paleo, AIP, Whole30, Vegan, these are diets- the focus is still on the food and it's significance on the body and still allow enough carbs for the body to stay in metabolization of glucose so it's completely different.
Ketosis is not easy as just eating more fat (in whatever form the food may be). It takes dramatic restriction of carbohydrate intake (in whatever form the food may be) and depletion process of stored sugar (glycogen) out of your body will make you feel sick and terrible for a number of days. As with drugs, essentially with sustained Ketosis you are putting your body through a chemical withdrawal from sugar.
For an average person looking to lose weight and improve health, maintaining Keto Satiety, the feeling of being full and not hungry for long periods of time as result of burning fat for energy - is the key. At first you'll still feel insecure that you'll become hungry and eat even though you feel full from slow steady fat burning. But as you become more comfortable with your Satiety you will disassociate from the need for food as absolute for survival and respond to nutrition (in whatever form) for your body's wellbeing. Forget eating 3x a day, your body will tell you when you need food and when to stop. You will crave and eat more or less based on what your body needs. Your body will no longer crave sweets and will involuntarily leave food on the plate. As physical and mental freedom from food grows Ketosis allows you the time and perception along with metabolic advantages that can now go toward achieving your optimal heath.
Keto doesn't have to be complicated! Simple yet delicious. I always call it "back to basics." Pan seared steak, fresh green beans steamed in beef stock, and garlic herb mashed cauliflower 😁😁😁 so yummy!

Where it all started. I weighed more than I cared to admit. At my worst I was 215 pounds. I’m only 5’5, so that’s pretty bad. In 2013, my health spiraled out of control and I had to have my colon removed. Recovering from that was and still is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I started packing on weight like I was doing it on purpose! I was eating “right” and exercising but the weight kept on adding up. I was introduced to the ketogenic diet and within 2 weeks I was down 20 pounds. Within 5 weeks, I had lost over 40 pounds and I was feeling normal again. This is a great diet for people without colons! #keto#ketogenicdiet#ketogenic#jpouch#jpouchlife#nomorecolon#colectomy#survive#diet
