Just stepped outside, after spending the entire afternoon restocking at the Lone Star Mercantile. All I can say is baby it's cold outside and only getting colder. 😰😰 I am a southern girl. I don't do cold very well. 😰😰 OK, enough complaining - have a good evening friends. 🌃🌌

I showed the comic to Kip a few weeks back, and he instantly said I needed it on my wall. Should I have a cookie? Heck yes I should!

Just in time for Day 13 of @taraleaver's #21daysinmyartworld challenge: today is all about process. As I'm still pretty new to oil painting, I use a fairly traditional method of sketching out my shapes first before building up the layers quite thickly from there - it's not glazing, but just a putting down of shapes. At the moment I need to do this for security - I'm working on a lot of still lifes and everyday items to push my observation and drawing skills, and to understand colour theory in practice and get used to different techniques with the oils, and if I just go straight in to paint it doesn't go great! But I think soon I'll need to start venturing away from this approach as I really want to loosen up my style and I think it might be restricting me slightly. But, I'm sure that intuition will come with time. Scroll through to see the build up of this tiny canvas of peppers (which was really a basic colour and composition study and I'm quite happy with the end result all in all!) #oilpainting#oilpaint#paintingfun#stilllife#colourstudy#artprocess#kitchenart#peppers
