I wish I had something for size reference for this thing. Fucking beast. Definitely in the top 3 largest klaubs I've seen in the states. Still got nothing on the one I saw in Mexico though. #klaubzilla (in training 😉) #ridiculous#andnothideous nice spot @devinbergquist
Saw a klaub in a mountain range where I'd never seen one before 😊 I was out setting cameras for one of the jaguar projects when I heard this little guy buzzing. Probably the highest elevation I've ever seen one at, too. My partner had been working in this range for over a year and has never seen one before, so it was a new experience for her (and her dog haha). I miss herping. Where's the fucking rain?? #sendhelp#klaub#herpnerd#buzzworm
Probably my favorite salamander species, the large blotched ensatina. Still have not found a certain sub species of a snake found where these guys are! And until I find it I guess I'll just keep finding these guy.
I've been meaning to get out and look for some early season montanes but I've been very busy with school and other things. Hopefully I can take a trip in the next week or so but until then here's a shot of a klaub from last season. With @danielcarhuff and @cerberuswalker
Banded Rock Rattlesnake (Crotalus lepidus klauberi) from southern Arizona. After a long hike I sat down to relax and have some water. After about 5 minutes, I heard a noise about 10 feet away and looked over to see a mouse bouncing around the rocks. As I watched the mouse I suddenly heard a rattle, so did the mouse, it darted away and into its burrow. Apparently the mouse startled the rattlesnake and caused it to give away its location.
