Local bus ride to Kochi fort, walking through urban green tree tunnels with tourists from all over the world, and a quiet gate announced "Cochin Club".
I walked into dense greenery, immaculate lawns and snoozing buildings. Past the scattered white wrought iron chairs and the feathered herons, this tiny Asian cafe called out to me.
Had a memorable lunch of Laksa shrimp soup, braised pork ribs and green tea ice cream..the food was delicious, but it was made memorable by the all Uttarakhand staff, headed by this cheerful guy from Garhwal, who served me and fussed around me like my own brethren.
When the mountains call and connect, even in tropical coastal cafes, my heart sings.
Me and my Indian mamma! Or 'amma' as they say here in the Malayalam language. I stayed at Linda's guesthouse for the past 10 days. She and her family took such good care of me. Making me pancakes for breakfast, helping me get into my sari and giving me advice on where to go. They really made me feel at home and helped me to get settled in Kochi. Today I will be moving on to a new place in a different neighbourhood, but I think I might be back every now and then for a chat and some chai masala. I will miss the company and my pink bedroom for sure... #incredibleindia#wanderlust#fashion#saree#family#homestay#kochidiaries#nomakeup#kerala#tourism
