#squats today...I find it incredible how much proper #fitnessnutrition helps! Because he had mercy on me, I had an unexpected extra hour between work and Evil Trainer, so I was able to zip home and whip up a quick meal instead of just slurping down a protein shake in the car. Salmon, broccoli, beets, and stuffed grape leaves (with rice inside). Much better! And today is #kosher#sushi day in St Louis, so my post-workout meal was good, too. #eattotrain
Volume, volume, volume...lower weights this part of the training cycle, but higher number of reps. 4x6 reps of squats at 125 lbs was a challenge for me but I surprised myself and lived through it.
3x10 of RDLs at 130 lbs was super easy, which is something I never would have imagined would be something I would ever say! But there you have it... evidence of #progress , despite the post-Jewish-high-holidays weight gain. Well, I assume there was weight gain...I haven't gotten on the scale, but my leggings are tighter. But I'm stronger, so at least there's that. #slowprogressisstillprogress
Split stance chops were also super easy...I must be doing them wrong. But those two easy things were just there to trick me and lull me into complacency. But then, because glute bridges at 235 lbs weren't killing me fast enough, Evil Trainer found a way to make them even *more* evil! Single-legged glute bridges!!! Only 75 lbs and it felt like 300! I felt like I was only moving the barbell a fraction of an inch, but when I reviewed the video I took, it seems like I raised it higher than I thought...another good reason for training videos (besides for creating Instagram posts!). Then came "carrying a 55-lb dumbbell around the gym for a while until your hands go numb and/or fall off" (Farmer's Carry), because I really didn't need to be able to feel my fingers or use my hands at all for the rest of the day anyway. #MyTrainerIsTryingToKillMe

Сегодня вечером, наконец, я возобновила после череды праздников занятия по хасидусу со знакомой, так же, как и я, не привыкшей довольствоваться простыми ответами, и которая может часами говорить о человеческом сознании, душе и рассуждать о мироздании с какой-нибудь книгой (сегодня была не та, что на фото - по ней мы учились с мужем, а "Тора Ор", маамар на главу Ноах. И сегодня я в очередной раз убедилась, что, чем сложнее и провокационнее вопрос, чем труднее найти ответ, тем больше наполненности и необычного чувства внутреннего удовлетворения от поисков и дискуссии ты получаешь на выходе. Даже, если ответ получен лишь частично или не до конца. Составляю список новых вопросов и жду подходящий момент, чтобы позвонить своему раввину и позволить душе немножко покричать. Душе - голосовые связки напрягать не буду.:)

Tuna Noodle Casserole
Before you scroll on gagging. Bear with me. Cuz that was my initial thought the first time I tried this. We were invited to some friends for a shavuos meal and she served this. And I was wondering how I can suddenly develop a serious illness so I can leave her house! I didn’t even want to smell it! And then! To make matters worse! My host tells me it’s her husbands specialty and I must try it!! Oh gosh I never wanted to NOT taste something so badly. And they knew I was into food. So everyone is sitting around the table waiting for me to take a bite and give my opinion. Oy. So I tasted it. And it was good!!!! Really good!!!! I made for my kids for supper. And they kept going in for seconds. Even my baby loved it! **just a side note. I used @dagimfish albacore solid white tuna. For this recipe to work. You must use a good quality tuna. Otherwise it will be fishy and gross
2 packages egg noodles
1 box mushrooms sliced
2 Tbsp oil
Salt and pepper
2 garlic cloves mashed (I cheated and used frozen cubes)
2 cups milk
1/4 cup flour
1 cup cheese
3 cans @dagimfish solid white albacore tuna
Bread crumbs ➡️Prepare the noodles according to package directions and set aside. ➡️meanwhile to make the cream sauce pour about 2 Tbsp oil into a pot and add the sliced mushrooms and garlic and salt. Once the mushrooms are done take them out and set aside (there will be some juice from the mushrooms you can leave this in the pot) ➡️add the flour to the pot and start stirring. (It will clump up) and quickly add the milk and stir well until you get a nice smooth sauce. And add the cheese and stir until it’s melted. ❗️I find this CAN’T be done without a whisk. ➡️once you get a nice sauce mix in the noodles and mushrooms into the pot and mix everything very well. Add the tuna, I crumbled it Into big chunks ➡️pour the noodle mixture into an oven safe dish and top with breadcrumbs. Bake 350° for about 20 minutes ❄️freezes well
