I went and toured my new duck club located in the Delta, 20 min from our office. I have hunted this property several times over the years with John Anderson. I believe it is arguably the best mallard hunting in the country. 1300 acres of natural habitat mixed in with flooded corn. Every duck in this video is a mallard. I cannot thank John enough for making me the first and only member of this club. @cashdeanmoney is going on his first duck hunt where he can shoot tomorrow. It will be so fun to watch him learning to waterfowl hunt. I bought him a 2 year old finished lab named Maverick. Tomorrow will be a great day for the three of us. #kuiu#kuiunation
Kodiak Goat • Sunday • 10/1/17
WELCOME SLAP IN THE FACE, part I
We set up our @cabelas base camp tent just 20-30 yards from the lake after the plane took off and situated our gear. Fortunately we had just barely beat the monsoon downpour that crashed down on us in true Kodiak fashion. Literal sheets of water hammered across the lake and mountainsides around us.
The three of us hunkered down in our base tent, organized gear for the next day and nestled in for late afternoon snoozes. A couple hours later Drake got up to relieve himself. "Uhhh...guys?" Out our tent door the entryway was completely submerged in flood water. We felt our tent floor, and found ourselves napping on 3 inches of water under our floor. We had set up several yards from an established creek with probably 2 foot banks down to the stream. That creek was now raging, but where our tent sat water was just flooding off the mountain with no regard for draining into the creek next to us! The lake itself had risen 16-20 inches instantly!
What followed for the next several hours was a nightmare from hell.
We quickly threw everything back in our bags and tubs and got it out of the tent. We then picked the whole tent up and temporarily set it up on salmon-berry bushes. The wind and rain was soberingly intense. We were pissed, but also smiling that Kodiak was giving us a "true welcome". Frantically we searched for a spot to reset on higher ground. Everwhere we looked that was open was a moss bog with 4 inches of standing water directly under the moss. When you stepped on it, you just sunk into water. I could hear our pilot in my ear, "I would go up in the alders a bit and find a spot that has been cut out." Hmmm...he must have had a reason for suggesting that! He could have told us if we didn't we might float out into the lake!
We found a spot up in the alders that was open enough but overgrown with salmon-berry bushes. which we did our best to stamp down, knowing that if we cut them all, we would leave stub 'spears' that would poke holes through our tent floor. We moved the tent & rain fly together trying to keep the inside as dry as possible - but failing miserably. We slept pretty wet that night
Love this Tech vs. Trad gear pics! Repost from @uk_hunting, awesome hunter from the 🇬🇧! ...
Having split forces with @genghis.270 who set out to a different area, @adventures_bound and I snuck down the hillside and into these beautiful small valleys covered in dense oaks. Stunning and a bit like walking on crisps! We soon spotted our first mouflon, three ewes. About 100m away. We were busy glassing them and looking for a ram when they suddenly legged it. I was mystified. Apparently they had seen us...my first intro to their bionic vision! #kuiueurope#huntinghungary#kuiu#kuiunation
Been talking a bunch the last couple days with my good buddy Nick Muche about chasing ibex in Spain. It was just about this time last year that we were getting ready to head over to Spain to chase the Spanish Ibex Slam. I couldn't put into words how amazing the food, culture, architecture, history, people and oh yeah the hunting was!!! I took this stud of a Beciete Ibex on the last day of the hunt with probably one of the best pressure shots I've ever made in the field!!! I hope to make it back there again. @kuiu_official @fhfgear @hoytbowhunting @lathropandsonsboots @huntbackcountry @ragebroadheads @optionarchery @huntxenek @huntinfooltv @builttohunt @totalpeep @victory_archery #mountainhunting#treadheavy#kuiu#kuiunation#ibex#spain @kuiueurope @pedroampueroca #getyourmindright
Kait Beal (@vettech_huntress) with a nice Idaho bull! #KUIUNation
“Loved using your camo for archery season in North Idaho. With all the wet brush in the Idaho mountains the attack pants held up great and dried fast! We had several bulls with in 10 to 20 yards with no shot, but they never knew we were there! Finally was able to connect at 32 yards with this beast of a 5x5. All 100% diy/public land! Thank you again for the great products!”
