The hallway was a gauntlet of security turrets, enforcers, blood and fuel. Gunfire had silenced and the operator found that he was the only one without a bullet in him.
The decker was bleeding out of a hole in her neck and their enforcer was a nearly a heap of burning metal.
With a great deal of effort, the decker signalled that they would distract the remaining enemy force long enough for the operator to place the charge and finally put this mess to an end.
Incensed by the sacrifice of his teammates, he tore off the arm off a dead nearby enforcer and bludgeoned the next one on approach.
By the time he had reached the reactor door all fighting had ceased. He knew that everyone behind him was dead, friends and enemies alike. He placed the charge, picked up an enforcer cannon and stood waiting in the doorway, ready to greet the new day and any who would try and stop it from coming....
