A GHOST STORY(2017) MOVIE REVIEW(NO SPOILERS) :
GENRE : FANTASY, ROMANCE
Starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara, this is in my top 3 this year. I've never felt pain of loss and love like this before. If there is magic in this universe, this is what it looks like.
A world where the immensity of time is not measurable , is what ghost story is all about and how a story revolves around it , a story of love and loss. Casey affleck and Rooney Mara are sharing screen for the second time after being casted in ain't them body saints(2013) which was directed by the same director David Lowery . He said in a interview that he wanted to make this film with the cast which feels more of a family. The film is so well made , that the impact is not reduced a bit even its been 3 months since i watched it. The moment it ended i was still watching the credits roll and i couldn't believe at that time , what i saw.
There are less dialogues than any other film now a days , But that doesn't matter as the grief ,the pain is visible in the character's eyes.
In the end its an enigma, definitely to be added in the 21st century most acclaimed movies. This movie is the the reason why i started watching movies in the 1st place.
So in my view :
Its -9.5/10 - Witness the magic.
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME(2017) MOVIE REVIEW(NO SPOILERS !) :
I literally waited a week to review this one. I just wanted to lay off the amazement i felt after completing it. I am not exaggerating when i say that i could not see a movie for a week till today. I thought the impact will be over, but it's not and lemme tell you why.
This enigma starring Armie Hammer, Timothèe Chalamet, Michael Stuhlbarg is a romantic coming of age drama between the two protaganists. This is the best on screen chemistry i've seen in my whole life and that too between two boys. It's a better chemistry than even Jack and Rose. Timothèe Chalamet plays the role of a 17 year old Elio who is very intellectual for his age, smart and confident. He and his family is being visited by a grad student in countryside of italy in the summer of 1983, invited by Elio's father who is a professor of archaelogy.
If i talk about acting, everyone is just great. But Timothèe Chalamet has nailed it as Elio. One can only see his work in this one and can get inspired deeply. Its like the world has found another great Leonardo dicaprio. Definitely going to be nominated for the best actor.
This movie is a celebration of moments. You would see protaganists sitting at a roadside cafe, by a pool , a lake or in a room enjoying the moment. It had some of the most intellectual talks in a movie one can put and still teaches a lot about love and life. I could not a find a place it went wrong. To me its absolute perfect.
The film making is a piece of art. Its genius, pure and simple. The director has been able to catch each and every emotion from the main leads and he does it so well, that that you don't even feel that you are actually watching a movie, you are in the movie.
I cannot tell you more, just watch it the moment you get your hands on this.
IN MY VIEW :
its 10/10 - Genius, great and Triumphant.
The Big Sick(2017) Movie Review (NO SPOILERS !) :
Well, i had this one sitting in my laptop for few months and i am stupid to ignore it for that span of time. It's not worth to ignore it a bit. Trust me i had no idea, what was getting into until i finished it and i was M-E-S-M-E-R-I-S-E-D. This is one of the those Romance Comedy Drama's that is so fresh like the Morning's early breeze.
Starring Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter and my all time favourite Ray Romano. This is a story loosely based on the life of Kumail Nanjiani and Emily played by Zoe Kazan in the movie. Its a very unusal take on the genre. I am not sure how much of the story is true, but its a interesting angle on the whole premise. It studies the primitive family beliefs, inter-racial marriage, Arranged marriage as well and still manages to be non-serious at times, even when elements of the story are serious issues.
Dont even watch the trailer or read about the protaganist's story. Just see this movie and form an opinion and that will be great because that worked out for me. If i talk about acting, i think it's average. Although the screenplay is real good. But i think it was a trick of the director to make them do average acting and not give 100% because that will make them look like normal people. Or i could be wrong? Don't listen to me.
It is funny, serious at times and surprisingly emotional.
So in my view :
Its 8.3/10 - a funny and emotional ride.
