"A Sunday well spent brings a week of content."
Yesterday was really a Sabbath day well spent. I felt so inspired and edified as I listened to the speakers specially during the ysa devotional. Every topic suffices my needs, like Heavenly Father is speaking directly with me, giving me answers to my prayers. I just feel so blessed and I am really grateful. 😇
"I should not like to contemplate an existence, especially one that is going to continue forever, if I could not enjoy that existence with those whom I love. And so we build temples in the name of the Lord." - Hugh B. Brown #Week25#LDS#LDSTemple#G#PaysonTemple#HouseoftheLord
When I read a book I write all over inside the pages. Last October I started reading the Book Of Mormon every day- writing my testimony of the things I was reading in the margins, I want to leave these scriptures to Gemma some day. I want her to know that I love Christ. Life has been crazy lately and I fell of the scripture reading band wagon- I'm jumping back on today and I'm so excited. My life is better when I fill it with good things :)

Sabemos muy bien quienes son las personas que debemos disculparnos pero no lo hacemos. Aprendan del hijo pródigo.
Service is great. Service is something that helps us to step outside of ourselves and to tend to the needs of others. It keeps us in balance from becoming self-centered people. Service not only provides relief to those who receive it, but we have all noticed at one time or another how service actually lifts the giver as well. In fact, it can possibly provide them with more relief than the recipient. But when does service become a bad thing?
Especially within religious homes, we are constantly taught the importantance of giving service. We are taught to tend to the poor and needy, visit our friends and extend help with moving or babysitting, give of our time and talents during church events, or even carry a huge responsibility in a calling within our church. All of these things are wonderful and can help us stretch and grow into individuals much greater than we were before. But often times, we stretch ourselves too much.
We begin to believe we must perfectly serve while juggling to keep our own families, lives, and careers afloat. Sometimes, it becomes even worse when those around us aren't as willing to serve and so our load is piled on more with requests and requirements.
This is when service can become a negative thing in our lives. It has gone too far and is out of balance. It is no longer spiritually lifting us; it is actually making us bitter and resentful. This is how you know you have taken on too much. So speak up. Tone down your service. Those around you might think that it's unacceptable or un-Christ-like, to lessen your service load, but those people often are living unbalanced and unhappy lives. That is not what the Savior wanted. He taught "moderation in all things" including service.
Our first responsibilities is to ourselves and our families, after their needs are met we can begin to incorporate service. But we must pace ourselves to "not run faster than we are able." At different times in our lives, we will be capable of doing more service than at other times in our lives. And that's okay. .

🌻🌻🌻➡ Thoughts: Please, let us know if you need a prayer your way! 🤗 Also, it is the job of a "responsible-Holy Spirit-carrying-person" to inform our lost brothers and sisters. I found myself in this same situation with talking to mormons. I had my bible on hand too. 🐙.... It doesn't matter if you are new to Christianity or have a solid 50 years of expereince. All that matters is that you have the courage to speak up. Remeber, God doesn't use the qualified he qualifies those to use! . . .
I recently noticed that for the past few months I have lost track of the importance of being present at church. By present I don't mean just showing up but being mentally engaged in what is transpiring at the pulpit or in the classrooms. I notice this is true of many others in the audience as well. People are on their phones playing games, looking at Pinterest, Facebook, or other social media sites, or they are dosing off and falling asleep during the talks. I feel bad that I have been one of these people often. I decided this needed to change and wanted to find a way to be engaged in what was happening. Not only be engaged but be able to remember impressions, feelings or thoughts that I had during church. I have never been good at keeping a journal but I decided I wanted to try to make myself a Sunday Binder to keep notes, thoughts, scriptures, quotes etc. and also put my patriarchal blessing in there to study during sacrament meeting.
I feel like this may help me to feel the spirit and be engaged in what is being taught. I tried out my binder today and I loved it. Church went by so fast and I felt like I took something away from each lesson taught. I think I will do this every Sunday and maybe even create a scripture study section that I can do on Sunday after church. #lds#sunday#journal#church
(June 2017). Well, this is another first for our family! Getting our most precious and priceless belongings together should we have to evacuate our house. Inside each of these boxes a piece of our hearts are in. A bad fire is spreading right by our house, 0% contained so far, and the police are set up at the light that leads to our development. Their command post is at the high school right down the street from us which is comforting! The police told Eddie so far we are okay, but should that change they will send deputies to our houses. Helicopters and planes have been above us for awhile. It's interesting, just a couple of days ago Eddie and I were talking about what we would grab if there was a fire near us. I'm so grateful that I have these little "memory bins" I call them, for each child, plus a box of hard copy of our family pictures. It was so easy to grab these things knowing all of their precious and important things, are inside. For now, we just wait to see if we get a knock on our door! I'm so grateful for the ties that this little first for us as well as being prepared in a gospel sense is making me ponder about. We should always be prepared both physically and spiritually. Thank you for everyone who has been checking in and offering their home to us! We pray for anyone who has been evacuated already.. 💗 #beprepared#faith#lds#firesafety#brave
The ultimate dynamic duo!! We're back! This girl holds a very special place in my heart. I trained her, we separated, then I was blessed to have her be my last companion which totaled 7 1/2 months together. Our adventures are endless, miracles witnessed countless, and love for each other boundless. Welcome home Sister Ledford! You're the greatest!! #missionary#lds#trainee#trainer#returnedmissionary#love
Your dreams can take you as far as you allow them to take you. But, one place they will most definitely take you is nowhere if you don't start acting on your dreams.
Aim HIGH.... dream BIG... work HARD... and watch where your dreams will take you.
It was amazing to witness @esmie_11 @gordon_evans and @kay.carls compete this weekend and absolutely kill it at the @bigjonproductions. I love seeing others DREAM big & do whatever it takes to accomplish them... never giving up. I had such an amazing week at girls camp with the 12-18 year old young women from church! I had the challenge of coming up with a service project that would engage and excite about 200 young women and that we could complete in just a few days. The theme of camp this year was Boot Camp so we hoped to create a service project that might be tied in with the military theme. After doing some research we learned that veterans are 50% more likely to experience homelessness in their lifetime than the average American, and considering the epidemic of homelessness in the Portland metro area, we knew that we wanted to serve this particular group of people. More research and we found our perfect project. We sent out a request to all the wards (congregations) in our area, asking that they collect and donate their plastic grocery bags. I never could have anticipated the response we got, and for weeks prior to camp my house was overrun with thousands of these plastic bags. By the time all donations were received, we had over 20,000 bags (😲). We flattened, folded, cut, and tied the plastic into "plarn" (plastic yarn) and wove it into sleeping mats for the homeless. The girls loved the project (they loved that it was serving people in our local community and they loved the environmentally friendly up cycling we were doing with the bags) and many girls came back to continue working on the project during their free time throughout the week. It was amazing to watch their enthusiastic efforts. My partner and I worked late into the nights to make sure the project was ready to be worked on whenever the girls wanted. By the end of the week we had completed 15 sleeping mats to donate. We still have mountains of bags and we already have several people and wards asking to borrow the looms we built so they can continue the project! It was probably the most physically demanding and exhausting project I've ever been a part of, but also easily one of the most emotionally satisfying. I absolutely love girls camp and I was so grateful for the opportunity to go and help the girls more personally understand Matthew 25:30-41. ❤️ #justserve#lds#girlscamp
Step out onto the ledge of faith and let the wings of obedience give you flight.
Just like a little bird trying to fly for the first time, faith can be a scary task to contemplate. But as we put our trust in God and give faith a try, our obedience to His gospel will give us the necessary wings to soar straight to the celestial kingdom.
Happy sabbath everyone!
El mejor domingo con los mejores hermanos que pude haber tenido @estefaniarejala @sagleo92, más fortalecidos cada día al conocer y reconocer a Jesucristo en nuestras vidas❤💚💙💛 #lds#conference#sud#brothers#faith
