Last Ones Standing 🍂🍂🍂 I'm reading a book right now, Robert Moor's On Trails. It's fascinating and about how and why trails form, whether created by humans, ants or elephants for example. It had me thinking, if there was no trail where I would go, what would my path be in this valley, on this particular day (last Saturday)? I think you can guess where I went. 😊 🍂🍂🍂 #golddigger#lettheoutsidein @stiomountain #ontrails
You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself. - excited to spend some wild time with my Trail tribe this weekend!
There’s a chill in the air today that’s making me think about and miss Alaska. It was a trip of firsts, and it was a trip that truly solidified my desire to get out fishing more. I laugh at this photo every time I see it. I’m practically hugging this poor chum, I was so excited to have caught it. Seek out more experiences that make you jump with joy and hug fish...they deserve love too. Ha! 🎣
Not quite #dawnpatrol Though without @chilsenbeck @joeyznyc @gbentinck or @levitoney9 I can't confirm it actually happened.
Mostly this morning, though, I'm thinking about the #tubbsfire and all my friends in #sonomacounty who have either lost their homes or are helping those who've lost their homes and loved ones. I'm thinking about you @brandon.bredo and your team in #sonomacountyparks doing your part and you @travclimbsrocks offering your truck and tools to help rebuild. I'm thinking about how grateful I am for the fresh air I'm breathing and how desperate y'all are for a taste of it. Know that I'm holding space for your grief, saying prayers, and doing the most ridiculous, white man rain dance in hopes of sending some moisture your way. From my heart to yours.... #sonomastrong#cx365#lettheoutsidein#optoutside#idahome#ridenorthidaho#greasyfingersbikes
Boulder will always hold a special place in my heart: first time living on my own far from my family, made friends, lost friends, struggled to find myself and ended up finding my new family, meeting my husband and realizing that Colorado is where I belong. It’s been years since I’ve been back up there, but had a blast playing on rocks today. 📸 @bmutari
six inches of snow, one wicked head cold, & upcoming travel plans have me thinking all my outdoor cycling days are behind me for this season. but who knows, maybe there will be some bright warm indian summer days when i get back from the mitten. #fromwhereiride#timetobreakoutthetrainer#michiganbound
We hope your summer wasn't too brutal. Maybe you were out chasing winter as well... @jenmcgoldrick usually finds it in Argentina, if you need a place to look.. Check out her latest post for #the_V_team blog: From Ashes to Stashes in Patagonia. Link in bio 🤘 PC @bengirardi
This man stood below, fascinated with the way the water had carved out holes in the rock in ages past. I love that about water. It always finds its path, changes its path and leaves a legacy for us observers to appreciate. This was my first visit to Ragged Falls in autumn and it didn’t disappoint.
Only 1 more spot left in my Fall #SelfieSafari visiting @grandtetonnps and @yellowstonenps. We'll head north from @cowboycoffeeco in Jackson at 8 am tomorrow October 14th after imbibing their 'Cowboy Cactus' blend so we can have enough hop in our step to get those great up-close shots. Let's see how close we can get to #wild animals including bison, wolves, moose, and grizzlies! Assuming we're not all gored, we'll rendezvous back in Jackson Sunday around 5 pm for a celebratory dinner with our gored and bitten friends in the ICU at @tetonhospital! #whynot#photography#Selfie
Our first overnight backpacking trip with the boys was amazing, challenging, fun, and exhausting-for Sherpa Dax and I. Pretty sure the love for exploring the outdoors is strong in the boys. Can’t wait for more desert adventures in the future!
We moved into a new apartment yesterday. I was so excited for the move, counting down the days to this new change...then when we were finally in the house I got pretty emotional. Change is hard for me, but staying stagnant is harder. This big change made me realize all the things I don’t do that I wish I did. I wish I’d stop saying I don’t have time for things when I have time to binge on Netflix. I wish I’d stop telling myself things are a bad idea simply because they’re out of my comfort zone. I wish I’d start writing for me again and get back the thing that’s always been therapy.
I wish I’d stop spending so much time on social media, even though I love sharing pictures and words with you all, it sometimes feels like a crutch for having to deal with real life. I wish I’d stop comparing myself to things on the internet. I wish I’d stop worrying about how others view me. I wish I’d book a spontaneous trip abroad and save like hell to make it happen. I wish I’d spend less time in front of screens and more time in front of my loved ones. I wish I’d stay in touch better. I wish I’d waste less time. I wish I’d say less and do more.
But as my dad used to say, “wish in one hand, shit in the other.” Not exactly sure what that means, but I do know it means whining about it on Instagram is unlikely to help. Then again, maybe this is just what I needed. #cleanslate
