The passing of a season sometimes serves as a cruel reminder of just how fast time goes by. And the older I get, the more sentimental I become. I wish I could just hold onto these moments with my kids, just as they are now! But seasons will continue to pass by rapidly, my kids will continue to grow far too quickly, and all I will have left are memories of what once was.
I think the reason I take so many pictures is so I can remember all these simple, everyday moments with my kids that make life so special and worth living! Some may argue that it's better to LIVE in the moment instead of document it, but I disagree. I fully believe it's possible to have the best of both worlds.
When you live in the moment, you experience it and make memories. But one day those memories will fade, and all the little details will disappear. THAT'S why I document those everyday moments through pictures.
I want to remember how the sunlight hits Liam's pale eyelashes and turns them to gold. I want to remember how Lily's thumb goes into her mouth the moment she gets sleepy. I want to remember Lexie's beautiful profile as she reads a book. I want to remember the way Dylan twirls his hair - or mine - when he gets worried or sleepy...just like he did when he was a baby. Those moments are worth living AND documenting! (I shared some thoughts on motherhood and a whole lot of pictures on the blog today...visit the link in my profile to read the full post! ❤)
Random musings from tonight's video:
1. Bravo @hasbro on whatever marketing you do that translates to my 6 year old asking me to go to the toy store to buy your doll for her birthday. 😂
2. 7 years old?! Time please please please slow the freak down.
3. Watching videos of the girls always makes me wonder how much of what they say in daily life that I miss. It's obvious to me watching now that she was saying Baby Alive doll over and over and it took me so long to catch on to what she was saying. 😔
4. Smiley-half-moon eyes. Enough said. 😊= 💘
My #twin boys never get to model for me, well, I've tried but they refuse to wear hair bows 😂 But they are stoked to help promote our fundraiser for @rubysrainbow. I'm selling these special handmade coffee cosies, and $5 of each will go right to Ruby's Rainbow, a non profit that gives college scholarships to people with down syndrome. October is Down syndrome awareness month and these cosies make great little gifts that can be conversation starters on why people with an extra 21st chromosome rock. Also, head over to @thebbtee who we've teamed up with, and check out her shirts that are going to the same cause. There is something for every age and size wallet between the two of us :) #LIFEisbetterwithyou#downsyndrome#October#blueandyellow 💙💛 Shop link in profile
Did you know that you can make a difference? Yes YOU!
I think sometimes in the world we live in with social media, we just feel like our voice gets lost in a sea of people screaming for someone to hear them.
I never thought that our story, our life, or our journey would ever be inspiring to people. Then, I realized that it was. It was inspiring, relatable, and encouraging to the people that would come behind us and experience the same things.
We had two choices years ago - to share our lives openly and publicly & get criticized along the way for doing that OR to keep our lives open to only our close circle.
I get asked often why are you ok with sharing your life so openly?
Well it's simple really. The world is better when we share our family. People see the beauty in a family that has kids with Down syndrome. They see the sibling dynamic. They see how we parent. They see our marriage thriving. They see the beauty in differences among people. They get educated. We share our lives openly because we want to change the world, and our family fiercely believes that we can. We've had many parents with prenatal diagnosis reach out to us & we have been able to offer them encouragement on their future. That in itself is worth it all <3 #LIFEisbetterwithyou
So I encourage you, let yourself get vulnerable & real with your journey! What you may think is insignificant may just be exactly what someone else struggling needed to hear today!

Someone for real this time is starting to feel better. I hope it's not to early to want to celebrate this positive move in the right direction. When I said they threw a Hail Mary the other day I had no idea they'd have to throw another one so quickly after. They changed her ventilation strategy to one they wouldn't normally use on a kiddo that was on such a high level of support. At first she thrived with the change! But with in hours she was struggling again. Her daddy sang and whistled to her all night long and at some point with his love she rounded the corner. She's been doing great so far today. They have been weening drugs and ventilator support and she's thriving. Please don't stop sending those good vibes. But I wanted you all to celebrate this moment with us ❤️ #nothingdownaboutit#pdaligation#downsyndrome#stellastrong#nicu#nicubaby#nicumommy#downsyndromeawareness#downrightperfect 💛💙#pulmonaryhypertension

Adaptive life coaching is one-on-one life coaching for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Using my Special Education background and experience, I coach my Allstar's to reach their full independence potential. Each program is different, because each individuals needs are different. I not only guide the Allstar, but their family too; sending home things to promote generalization as well as offer support as someone they can talk to. Together, we create the perfect team! 💙 As my Allstar's life coach, I also offer myself as the middle person between the Allstar and their employer to ensure success and overall happiness in the workplace. My goal is that every Allstar gains the appropriate skills needed to happily include themselves into society. 💙
I am now accepting distance Allstars (adults only)! Sessions are completed through Skype! Link for website in the bio!
