Remember when I asked about ideas to earn money for Disneyland? Well, we are starting tonight with a Family Home Evening lesson!
I had ideas of making this super awesome, but knew that would take more time to figure out, and at this point done is better than perfect. ;) If all goes well, we'll keep this going and perfect it as we go.
Soooo... here's how it's going to work: (in theory)
It's set up like Hogwarts House Points! Not gonna lie, kinda excited to call out "10 points to ___" at some point. 😂😂😂 I'm making a list of things that will automatically gain points, and things that will lose them.
Then, at dinner each night, everyone will have an opportunity to recommend extra points to SOMEONE OTHER THAN THEMSELVES for something good/nice/brave they did.
Plus as parents, we will also be trying to hand out random points during the week. ☺
Does that make sense?
The main idea behind this is to start recognizing all the good and nice things that happen, rather than focusing on the negative.
Doug and I are one house, and the boys each have their own. And everyone has their own color beans, so no cheating. ;) The boys LOVE Harry Potter, so I'm hoping this was a stroke of pure brilliance.
Wish us luck!!! #parenting#lifelessons#teachingkidslifeskills#10pointstogryffindor#familyvacation2017
Learning to be gentle with yourself is huge!!! Meditation is a perfect way to build awareness and mindfulness in your daily life.
One of the things I am learning with it is giving more grace and patience to myself to allow time to grow and change in many areas of my life.

So this weekend didn't go exactly as I planned! As you can see by my face I spent a lot of it in a lot of pain due to a torn hip flexor. Really glad to be surrounded by some great new friends who are really helping me keep my chin up and stay motivated! 💕 going to keep working and making #teamwarden proud and keep the #mambamentality strong
I've never considered myself "great" with plants. 🌱 But I WANT to be. Which means that, even after hope is lost for a plant I've managed to kill, I'll continue to water it "just in case." You know, just in case it isn't ACTUALLY "dead" or just in case I'm "giving up too soon." -- I am a perpetual over-hoper and I've learned a lot about the damage it can cause. It's exhausting. It's confusing. It's fruitless, and toxic. This is true of relationships, too. Resilience and patience are sacred, but so are discernment and self-knowledge. Have the courage to recognize when a relationship or situation has ceased to bear fruit (if it even did to begin with). Have the strength to let go when love has withered and there is nothing left to "nurture." Have the self-worth to realize when all that you've poured out has not brought forth growth. 🍂 It's okay. It is so BEYOND okay. There are plants out there that are brimming with life and ready to bear you the sweetest of fruit -- if only you would stop pouring everything you've got into the ones that are barren. So grateful for this new season of life, full of love and abundance 🌱💕 #lifelessons#whatiamlearning#love#relationships#quote#selfcare#gratitude#letgo#courage#daringgreatly
Life lessons are always taught by those before us. Sometimes we have to experience them also to learn it for ourselves. My father taught me many things about life and living. Cooking was one of them, which I enjoyed learning though at times it didn't seem like it to him. After all what does one expect from a nine year old on summer vacation from school. Whenever I make this Lao style cucumber salad we call "tum mahk tah-ng" I think of him. Just like in life cooking requires a balance of ingredients, spices, and seasoning. Cooking is also similar to life in that we do things the way we like it. I believe everything in life has a connection. Life goes by so quickly. I'm so grateful for these memories and remembering how to make what reminds me of family and home. #LifeOfARandomGirl#TumSom#LaoFood#SEAsianTradition#Foodie#Cucumber#Salad#Spicy#Food#DaddysGirl#Daddy#Family#Life#LoveLife#Love#LifeLessons#Cooking#Cook#Grateful#Appreciation#Memories
All you need is one experience that made you feel good about yourself. Remembering and then using that modest #accomplishment will be instrumental in improving your self image, so then you can use that experience to feel good about yourself to change the way you think and feel about yourself that you can set your mind to and accomplish anything you want! | #SuccessfulWSerg _
