"Health and fitness is about so much more than looking good." We read this all the time on our favorite #fitspo accounts. But, let's be honest, most people want to get into fitness to "look" better, right? So when does this supposed shift happen? How could working out really change my mindset? .
I can't tell you a when, but I can tell you with absolutely certainty that it does!
• Your self-confidence will build even when you can't yet see those physical changes.
• You will feel proud when you stick to this routine for a whole month because, damn, that workout kind of sucks but, holy crap, do you feel awesome when every time it's done!
• As your confidence grows, you will become more positive about other aspects of the world around you.
• You will find joy in things you never did before because you will no longer be all-consumed by negative, self-deprecating thoughts.
• This new optimism will positively affect your loved ones around you and the way you interact with them.
This week, I had a moment where I had to choose my now self over my former self. My former insecure self that measured my self-worth based on how others validated my existence. Maybe my former self doesn't sound so great but it's easy to give in to the comforts of the past, especially that one part of your past that has been very difficult to let go of.
Well, let's just say, I have come too damn far and feel way too proud of who and where I am. I cannot take my eyes off the road in front of me because that is the ONLY direction I am moving in now. Forward.

Trying my best to gain weight. From my perspective of losing 57lbs it's the hardest for my mind and my body to gain weight. Consistency is key. Imagery is an ingredient for my success. Sculpting slowly but I feel the best I have and will continue until I literally can't breathe. #consistency#gains#nofilter#pushday#pumped#grow#lifting
Recommend watching with sound on so you're not just watching me hump the air in silence... After a few days off I'm excited to jump back on the 100 day challenge 😬🙌🏽 💪🏽This glute and hamstring workout uses a mix of compound work and accessory/isolation exercises. Compound workouts call for a heavier weight and a narrower rep range, while accessory work calls for light - moderate weight and a broader rep range. Compound movements such as RDLs and squats will help you build strength overall, while accessory work will hone in on the targeted muscle group. By mixing both exercises together, you'll have a nice little shelf to rest your champagne glass on in no time 🍾🥂🍑 (refuse to buy kimoji).
Day 54: Glutes and Hamstrings
▪️Cable squats: 4 x 8 - 10
▪️Banded side raise to kickback: 4 x 10 - 15 ea (complete side raises then move straight to kickbacks)
▪️Kettle bell RDLs: 4 x 8 - 10

100 Days of Fitness challenge. Posting one workout set / one meal every day for the next 100 days 😫🍑💪🏼.
I am incredibly happy with how I looked and presented my physique on stage last Sunday at the UKDFBA Southern Counties Qualifier. Although I didn't place (I won't lie, I am really gutted about that!) I know exactly what I need to do over the next year or two to bring my physique to a much better standard!
I want to give BIG thanks to my coach @paulrimmerphd for guiding me through my prep for the second year running, he seriously knows his stuff and I wouldn't have progressed the way I did without him there to keep my physique on track every week!
Thank you to my fiancé @laurenjcalladine for supporting me and encouraging me though the hardest points of my prep. She knows there were times that I nearly sacked it in for various reasons but she kept me pushing and I appreciate that so much! ♥ 👪 Likewise my family support and understanding was so important to me. Thanks for letting me occupy the kitchen 24/7 and putting up with my mood swings 😂
Now I need some serious time off dieting to grow and produce a trophy winning physique! 💪 👊

🔺Circuit number 3! We have a mix of legs and core work! .
🔺The best part of ciricuits is that you can modify it to your fitness level. If you are a more advanced athlete, time your circuits and try and get through it in less time in each time or increase your reps and sets and decrease or take out rest periods! Finally add some weights such as ankle weights or vests! 💦
#cutting#workoutwednesday - It's been one month into my first cutting phase- I started at 22% body fat after 3 months of high caloric intake. Yesterday I measured at 17.9% body fat which was a nice surprise. I lost 3lbs (which I was really really really really, did I say really hoping it wasnt muscle loss) My goal is 16% even. I do have all those cliche ab progress pics- but, don't we need a fun pic once and awhile? You can't be funny when your flexing abs... it just doesn't work. The first couple of weeks into it was not easy- but you have to get the mindset and think of it as a game.... games are fun right? :) Increase in my cardio has given me a noticeable endurance, which is so rewarding! Here's to this month of cutting! And here's to the weight on my plate which looks like a delicious, chocolate, donut. #fitnessmotivation#fitgirl#fitness#fitness#fitmom#fitmoms#motivation#momswholift#bodygoals#bodybuilder#bodybuildingmotivation#bodybuilding#lifting#liftlikeagirl
😅Please forgive the dodgey dancing. Cannot go between sets without a bit of a boogie! (whatever gets you through right?)
My triceps are achiiinnnggg today. Really glad because when I finished this session I felt like I hadn't done enough, but now I'm hurting I know I have! I enjoy arm day but I know my form is way off for a lot of these exercises, so any advice is gladly taken!
I've been thinking a lot recently about what I like about my body. I am not undertaking this lifestyle completely for the aesthetics, but I'd be lying if i said it wasn't a part of my motivation. I think that's ok. But recently I've been thinking 'I like my legs because they are strong' whereas my thighs have always been one of my least favourite features previously. So even though this change is tiny to most people, for me it's a pretty seismic shift in my thinking. I have always unintentionally based my worth on how I look and been terrible at comparing myself to others and hating myself because I'm not as 'worthy' as that Instagram model, that fitness guru, that pop star.
So to everyone who thinks the same way as me, you're not just how you look. We are more than our size, our make up, our hair colour, our clothes. We are a package with so many beautiful and convoluted layers. Like a cake. Because who doesn't love cake?!
