Here's to long shadows and lazy blue sky afternoons and missed dinner times and bikes left on porches and iced coffees and that morning warm that never leaves until well after the moon has arrived. Here's to you, Summer. Till next time. 🙌
Summer is wrapping up and this picture sums up my final #summertimestories2017 perfectly. A bit chaotic, lots of fun, and unbelievably hot. I’m looking forward to some cooler temps and slower days as we welcome fall.

"We learn and we try again. We keep showing up, we
keep taking chances on ourselves and our crafts, and
we do not give up. It’s the only way, really. Where you
are is no more or less risky than anywhere else, so embrace it. Live a lot, not a little."
Love this quote from @peaceofure in this month's guide! SO GOOD! Do you have favorite article or quote about risk taking in the guide? Share below!
When you haven't made breakfast for supper in forever (or like ever), well, you pull out all of the stuff and you just do it, and put a smile on your boy's face because he really is a breakfast person.
And. Your heart is smiling because you know your husband who is nearly 900 miles away is being taken care of while he takes care of some sweet Floridians by restoring power in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Like. Today. He went to a cookout thrown for lots of linemen there in appreciation from the locals there for doing what they've did. He also was interviewed by the news channel there. And. I cried as I watched it.
It's nearing time for him to be home. He's been gone nearly two weeks now, and even my heart is homesick because this place is just not home without him.
That's been my day!

Hi MagicofChildhood Community! I'm Maya, the founder of this little space, which because of you, our curators (past and present) and our supportive fellow hub-friends has become quite a magical space indeed! Thank you for all the kindness, love & support over the past year & for getting us to 50K & over a million tags!
Many of you have asked me over the past year: What is MagicofChildhood? And to each & every one of you, I have replied time & again much the same: it's the joy on your children's faces; it's the look of awe & curiosity you see when they learn something new. It's the dirt & grass & sand they play in; the trees they swing from; the sunshine in their hair & ice-cream & grass stains on their clothes; it's the tears over a scraped knee, & the kisses you promptly plaster over boo-boos, & tender touches & staying up at night when they don't feel well, & all those love notes tucked into lunch boxes, & the endless trails of glitter & pixie dust & artwork. It's the pride you see on their little faces, & fears you work to dissolve. You see: You are the MagicofChildhood to them! And they are the MagicofChildhood to you. And that's what MagicofChildhood is to me.
I really loved being a child! I loved the little kingdom of fairies that existed in our old, overgrown garden in my childhood home. I spent hours & hours in that garden playing & daydreaming & discovering new magical creatures everywhere I went. But somewhere along the way, little by little I forgot to look, & eventually I stopped seeing them. That's until the day Simona was born & boom, it was all back in my life again in a flash of pink, the fairies, the magic, all of it was back. And then I started photographing it, the magic that surrounds her, the magic she is. And I really hope that looking back at these photos, some day when she's all grown up they will be her portal to that magical land of childhood forever.
So, let me ask you, why do you photograph? What is the MagicofChildhood for you? Please continue to capture & share your magic & when you do please remember to tag #magicofchildhood

It's how I see the world when I look through my lens. Almost always the individual. Almost always the quiet moments. 22 high school soccer players on the field in today's game and I managed to shoot this image of a solitary player doing his job. Because he did it well, the other team didn't score a single goal on us. 4-0 win for the FCA Lions.
Live on the edge. Trust me. The view is way better.
Omg. I was really trying to wait until tomorrow to share this one and I seriously just can't. Totally DYING. @reagan_martin
Nate is leaving for the next week and a half to go play his drums on tour ⭐️ so I made him an extra special going away dinner. Crispy organic chicken thighs, seared on a cast iron skillet skin side down until golden brown then roasted for 20 minutes at 375. Roasted sweet potato, apple and bacon casserole. Turmeric and black pepper buckwheat. Zoodles tossed in avocado oil, salt + pepper and steamed beets on a bed of arugula👌🏼. Going to miss you big time my love @nathancotton1 😘
Christmas decorations came a little early this year
Last photo of my couple series! Gonna take a hiatus from photography for a bit to develop more ideas. Thanks again for everyone who helped me do all my photo ideas and maybe I'll do more couple stuff in the near future!
Working on my series •Finding the JOY in Motherhood• has COMPLETELY changed my way of thinking, feeling, and even how I respond to my son during the day. .
Hard mommy moments still happen, but focusing on the GOOD and JOYFUL parts of motherhood has helped me to truly enjoy the not so fun stuff😉I hope this never wears off haha! 😆
FIRST BLOG POST on this series launches TOMORROW morning!🙌🏼🎉
