Florence, @brewdogofficial ...had to happen.
Big up to @yorkshire_hophead for teaching me how to find the craft beer places closest to me 😂👍🏻
But yes its Brewdog but I obviously didn't get a Punk IPA...raided the Italian Section of the fridges instead..😉
Guardian is an American Pale Ale by style. So how did Pale Ales develop?
Ales are as old as beer making itself, but “pale” ale only came about in the 1700s when improved malting techniques allowed for paler malts to be created, and therefore paler beers, and the term “Pale Ale” was coined.
Pale Ales also differentiated themselves from the beers at the time, other than the colour, by being slightly more bitter through hops than the milds and porters of the era, which lead to them also being referred to as bitters.
The American Pale Ale came to life in the 1980s when Sierra Nevada launched their Pale Ale, with the use of lots of Cascade hops and pale malts, allowing for great hop flavour and aroma, and the rest is history. The style became very popular, and eventually lead to the rejuvenation of the IPA, which we all love.
Guardian keeps true to this American style, with a combination of American and Australian hops, leading to fragrant hop flavour and aroma. Grab one, you’ll love it!
