Day 5, Ordinary train #201 en route to Lopburi, Thailand: It's on third class Thai trains that I meet the nicest people. One on the way to Nakhon Ratchasima last year, another one while headed to Don Mueang also last year, and now this 65 year-old lady while on the three hour ride to Lopburi, featuring a judgey guy in the background. She was headed to Nakhon Sawan with a tote bag containing a train timetable, two apples, a knife, a toothbrush and a few other mish-mashed items, but no ticket which she probably left at home. She speaks only rudimentary English and I don't speak Thai, but with a lot body language and some patience, we managed to communicate somehow. She shared her apple with me and even bought me such good coconut ice-cream from a vendor on the platform. Things like that you'd be able to get if you travel third class. People like her make me keep travelling the way I do, and I'll be very sad the day I get too rich and spoilt and old to do this any longer.
