First worshiping my Lord and Savior! Powerful worship time and anointed preaching!
Then, our Sunday meal! Our long table! That’s why we have it! To have lots of people around it! Talking, laughing, growing together!
Fall always has the power of inspiring me to cook some hearty, crockpot or oven meals. It’s “Thanksgiving” time! Every day is time to give thanks, isn’t it?
Menu: pork ribs and sauerkraut (homemade), Brazilian chicken and rice, corn casserole. Rice pudding with maple syrup for dessert.
Contact lenses taught me about having faith in God?
I've worn glasses my entire life but recently I've worn contacts every once in a while for specific occasions (such as theater and cosplay). Anyways, last night I was wearing contacts. When I went to take the one out, I lost my handling of it and "lost" it in my eye. This isn't super alarming for someone who deals with contacts all the time, but...I've only worn them a hand full of times.
I freaked out and cried in the pain of it for about 30 seconds. By the end of that time I was kind of in a full blown panic attack. I legitimately thought I had lost my contact and would need surgury or something to get it out. The first thing I thought to do next was call my mom (who had just left for the grocery store). I explained what happened and you know the first thing she did? She prayed for me.
Once we found it and got it out I started to think. When I realized what was going on, I freaked out. When my mom found out what was going on she went to God and prayed over me. Yes, she was concerned, but she took it to God and had faith in Him instead if falling deep in anxiety like I did.
I will be honest and say that praying about something or trusting God for a good outcome isn't always my first thought...especially in a crisis moment (large or minor😉). I'm really trying to work on that because when I do finally get to praying about it (or in this case someone prays over me) and give it to God, He gives me an overwhelming sense of peace. It's amazing. He's amazing.
If you struggle with having prayer as your first thought in a crisis moment and trusting God, I feel you. I hope that you'll join me in trying to change that :)
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
