Officially sick as a dog, but that didn’t stop me for planning my next few days of meals. Dark chocolate banana oat protein muffins as a pre workout, my beloved @shakeology right after my sweat session, overnight oats with berries a couple hours after, turkey meatballs/sweet potatoes/brussels+butternut squash for lunch, carrots and peanut butter as a snack, and then meat marinara over spaghetti squash for dinner.
This new program has me eating a lot and I’m not mad about it one bit. Meal prepping has become really therapeutic for me, and I’m finding it easier and easier each time I do it. I love knowing what’s going into my foods, and the cool part is that I can make the proteins in bulk and repurpose them! For instance, the family enjoyed the meat marinara over regular spaghetti noodles, and the kids will eat the meatballs drizzled with some BBQ sauce and some roasted red potatoes tomorrow! One of the biggest concerns I get from my clients with families is that they can’t get their families to eat what they make. This is my take:
1. Try and come up with protein sources that are versatile like taco meat, for example. While the family enjoys quesadillas or burritos, I will have a taco bowl with extra veggies. Another favorite or ours is burger night. While everyone enjoys their whole wheat buns, Mommy has it protein style!
2. When it comes to cooking, I tell my kids that they don’t have the luxury to be super picky. I make them eat at least 1 of each vegetable on their plate. If I only made 1 vegetable that night, they need to eat at least 3. Now, it’s not like I make all kinds of veggies, and I always keep them in mind. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, roasted carrots, squash, green beans, and roasted cauliflower are all that I’ve served at dinner. I don’t get too adventurous here (although I’d love to), because it can lead to arguments and disappointment.
3. Lots of the time, the kids will act like they can’t finish what’s on their plates and then ask for a snack before bed. We make it clear to them that if they didn’t eat at the table, then they don’t truly need that snack. Real hunger means that you eat what’s in front of you!

I’m usually VERY hesitant to buy any sort of packaged veggie burger, but decided to give @drpraegers a try & LOVED IT!! They are light & tasty. I bought mine from @traderjoesvegan, added avocado, spinach, mustard & melted @daiyafoods cheese. I highly recommend buying these for any one who is craving a little something extra 🌱🍔
My hubby is a hunter, and this weekend he successfully got two ducks, we cooked the first one tonight on the #traeger 🥩🍖🍗 I feel so lucky to be married to a man who provides me with so many lean, organic, local, respectfully harvested proteins #huntergatherer
Allow me to share some of my story with you outside of fitness and being a grub monster. Hi, my name is Ashley and I am IT Project Manager in the Application and Software industry. I have a double major and graduated from Arizona State University. I want to cry when I say “me too” because I’ve walked into an interview before and had someone say “wow, you are so well spoken”. What in the literal fuck does that mean?! Last time I checked, education doesn’t have a skin color. I was the first and only of my mothers children to make it past high school and put myself through college 100% on my own. My main reason for seeking a higher education was to make my mother proud but it has catapulted into the workforce at a young age and I am so blessed and grateful God granted me. Higher education weighs heavy on my heart because it’s completely dictated my life, trajectory and future goals as a female leader in the workplace. I’ve been stereotyped as typical “black girl” and when people hear me speak and realize I have a double major, they feel foolish for thinking they could fit me into a box. I think education is the sexiest thing in the world — no one can take your brain from you. If you are a boss babe and working towards your degree or already have it, you have already broken so many barriers that society and men have tried to limit us to. Rock your mind harder than any part of you (and your faith too). We are freaking blessed to live in America and have the gift of freedom to LEARN. #EducationIsASuperPower
Say 8 of 80, one hour workouts haven’t been as brutal as I thought they would be! I am feeling so motivated to finish the program strong, it’s hard not to feel the fire fueling me when my whole fit family is fired up over #80dayobsession
What keeps you going towards your goals everyday?
3 sp Mexican shrimp stuffed peppers! Served with a side of homemade guac (1 sp per tablespoon) and tortilla chips (4 sp per 9 chips). Cook the shrimp in the salsa with about one table spoon of taco seasoning. Cook the rice as directed and season with another tablespoon of taco seasoning. Layer rice, shrimp and cheese until stuffed full. Put the top back on and cook at 350 for about 20 min. Recipe works great with fat free ground turkey or chicken breast as well! #weightwatchers#bodypositive#foodforfuel#lovemybody
My husband is away and I totally don’t want to cook a big meal. I grabbed some left over chicken cut up some veggies and mixed it all up then up in a few noodles with hot sauce and spice. So yummy. #myjourney#thisisme#icancook#lovemybody
