Being in the Himalayan mountains taught me so many different things. So many life lessons and insightful perspectives were poured into me through out that trip. One that I keep near to my heart, especially with all that is happening in the world currently, is this:
Continue to fight the good fight. Continue to learn and challenge your discipline. With each positive push there is another step forward. Keep moving.
Continue to fight for equality, for freedom, for peace, and for love.
#LoveAllServeAll#CitizenOfTheWorld#FreeTibet#LoveTrumpsHate#Namaste *Thank you to all who supported my trip. Whether through prayer, financially, or words of encouragement. I am greatly appreciative of each and everyone of you. 💗🙏🏽🏔
The last surviving daughter of civil rights icons Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King served up a history lesson on Twitter over the weekend in response to those who were angry over NFL players protesting during the national anthem.
Bernice King said people didn’t approve of her father’s protests, either. - @huffpost -
•YAP• in the midst of the divide in our country it's more important than ever to remember we are all human beings and EVERYONE is deserving of love, kindness, and compassion. here is my promise to the realest, forever.🤘🏻
This. Please stop talking, donny. You do nothing but cause dissension in America. Go away. I respect the flag. I respect my fellow human beings, regardless of sex, race, religion, or who they love. I do not respect you. The obvious reasons why do not need to be reiterated. #lovetrumpshate My Uncle Jerry was a POW in Germany in WWII. Respect.
I had the honor of photographing at Charlottesville High School last week. These kids are remarkable! When students from Metro Tennessee High School heard about the tragic events on August 12 they dedicated a beautiful song for the people of Charlottesville in response. I got to photograph them on their visit to Charlottesville where they performed with the high school orchestra and choir. The song is "We need one another (right now)." Amazing. @will.cooke0530 @blackknightnat #lovenothate#thisislove#lovetrumpshate#concertforcharlottesville
The degrees and money doesn't mean anything when it comes to your character. It either means you are a standup person with degrees and money or you're any asshole with degrees and money.
i’m gonna be at my synagogue like all weekend for yom kippur so i’m going to delay admin applications for one week!

hey hi there! just a lil reminder and PSA for my fellow humans:
we are all HUMAN. some with more or less melanin in our skin. some with darker or lighter or curlier or straighter hair. some that started their journey on a different land than they are today. some that speak languages that others don't or have family recipes other families haven't heard of. whatever the case may be, the one thing that we all have in common, at the end of the day, is that we are all HUMAN. let's not increase the size of our guns, heights of our walls, or strength of our judgements. instead, let's increase the size of our hearts, raise our vibrations and practice compassion, and strengthen our UNION as humankind. i mean, this is supposed to be the UNITED States of America, right? ❤️
let's bring the change we've all been talking about...
MAKE PEOPLE HUMAN AGAIN. ❤️
***DM me to find out how to get your own hat***
Listening to all these people get pressed about #takeaknee annoys tf out of me. It is in no way disrespectful to the flag nor America. I shouldn't have to stand, with my hand over my heart, to pledge an allegiance to a country that don't give a fuck about the majority of the people in it
NOW AVAILABLE!! #MendingTheDivides 's message of hope, restoration, and transformation is something that every follower of Christ needs to read. It will inspire and challenge you to be creative in love in our very conflicted world! #LaunchDay @theglobalimmersionproject #LoveTrumpsHate Link to order in my bio!
Listen. If Colin Kaepernick never made a choice, we may not be talking about this. He was a leader. LeBron James is a leader. I really don’t care tons about either football or basketball but I appreciate these men using their platforms and voices to stand (or not) for what they believe is right and just. Each day we have so many opportunities to spark dialogue, inspire new ways of thinking about things, and express solidarity with others who are hurting. I admire anyone who does this in the name of peace and respect.
Day 5 of the #7MagicWords challenge asks for a word that releases. I chose Courage because I feel that once we brave that first step we are released from whatever fears or anxieties stopped us in the first place. And in keeping with the theme of uncovering truths about racism and privilege, Courage helps us bridge the gaps that keep racism alive! *
Having the courage to speak my truth has been difficult. I am a parent coach and an LCSW, not a civil rights activist. But, as I have witnessed such unfortunate misconceptions about race and privilege recently I felt that it was important to begin using my voice to help others become aware of their bias, their privilege, and the ways it keeps others silent. *
Another act of courage was to not let this stance feel like it was taking me away from my true mission to #endparentshaming ! In fact, I think speaking up about inequality is part of helping parents become #shameproofparents and reduce shame. When we can raise children in a world that courageously embraces differences and honors unique expression we are creating a shame-proof world.
Lastly, I’ve since realized (and have shared with others in private conversations) that being Black in today’s world is an act of courage and activism. Even if you don’t consider yourself an activist, you are by just being alive and continuing to show up as a Black person. This truth has become so evident in our current climate. And this truth has sparked in me a fire to show up as a Black women in ways that I feel empowered - via social media and with conversations with others. I may not be the head of a grassroots organization, and I may not be at marches, but this is how I courageously show up: speaking ya truth as a Black women to those who follow and see me online! #love#courage#lovetrumpshate#blackgirlmagic @marisagoudy
That moment when you are battling with a hardcore Dump supporter about race, but with thoughtfulness, compassion & humor, you bring him round & even though you'll never agree on politics, he's actually become someone you call a friend & he even sends you DM's asking how your kitty is doing. Y'all, this guy's politics are everything I'm against; he'd say the same about mine. But we've found common ground; a way to connect with sincere mutual respect. I'm hopeful that others can & will & are trying to do the same. It takes a lot of emotional heavy lifting, but it can literally change the world. I'm willing to do my part. Are you?🙏🏽🌎💜
UPDATE: check out what I just posted in my Instastory. It just popped up on my Twitter feed. Very timely👍🏽
We love coming to @thenewchildrensmuseum for inspiration and creativity. Their Wonder Sound exhibit by @wesleysambruce is a constant reminder of what we need to generate as individuals, as parents, as friends, as strangers, as a society. After all of our layers have been stripped away, we are all the same. More love and togetherness; less hatred and anger.
