Seriously, if you don't have it, get this app!! This application saved me. 
Researchers at Monash University Melbourne, Australia have developed a diet and corresponding app to assist in the management of GI symptoms caused by IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). The diet works by restricting foods high in some carbohydrates called FODMAPS.

I love this app because of the traffic light system is uses to show uses which foods are safe to eat and at what quantities. It's always on my phone and always with me so I can easily check (which I do multiple times a day). Perfect t for someone starting out or reintroducing foods! 💪🏻

A year ago today I went into hospital and had my first ever colonoscopy done. I woke up in the operating room to my specialist telling me he had found signs of Crohn’s but they had to send off the biopsies to be sure. I immediately burst into tears and told him I couldn’t wait another couple of weeks to get better. As a response, he told me to download the @monashfodmap app and start following the low FODMAP diet. Within 2 weeks my symptoms had improved dramatically. Now, 1 year down the track. I feel healthier and happier than ever. This diet has given me my life back and allowed me to go back to work, study, socialising and just living like a (relatively) normal 21 year old. I managed to reintroduce a few foods along the way, but I never broke the diet once. I am a firm believer in fodmaps for IBS and owe my life to the hard working researchers and scientists who discovered them.
One of my best friend went above and beyond by surprising me with a present and a sparkler in my fodmap brunch, and my family is taking me out for dinner. Who else is a complete peanut butter addict? I love it so much, but I have to be careful on the serving I give myself so I don’t overdo it! A small spoonful on my morning oats is more than enough to give me some good fats and help me stay fuller for longer. The result - I have IBS 💩 This month has been relatively uneventful, having access to a kitchen and therefore more power over what I eat has calmed my weird stomach habits until last night when I thought I was going to explode after eating sunflower seeds 🆘🔥💥so I've done a @dairyleah and printed out a low FODMAP food guide. These are foods that are kind to an IBS soul. On the "to avoid" list is avo and mushrooms, had a good old cry about that. Being vegan limits me even further so this is a plea for help to any low FODMAP vegan/veggies out there 🙌🏻 any recipes, tips, life hacks or can't live without supplements/tablets - let me know. Already scoping out @lowfodmapvegancat 👀🌿in the meantime, enjoy this pretty cactus chilling, probably thinking about avo and mushrooms on toast. C🌵nt.

LOW FODMAP/GF POLENTA EGGS BENNY 🍳✨ breakfast used to be my favourite meal of the day but giving up avocado, bread and honey had me giving up some of my favourite breakfast items, my favourite being eggs benny 😵 kept this low FODMAP by frying some sliced tube polenta from @traderjoes in garlic infused oil, then topping the slices with arugula/rocket, poached eggs, hollandaise and pepper 💛🖤 I cheated with this hollandaise as it came out of a packet but there are tons of homemade recipes out there using simple ingredients you will likely already have in your cupboard x

My low FODMAP girls night in from the weekend 💃🏻 Honestly, who doesn't love cooking with friends and spending some quality time together. 
We whipped up low FODMAP pesto fettuccini made with basil, EVOO, pine nuts, Parmesan and garlic infused olive oil 🌱😍 Followed it with a fruit platter of pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe and mango (I can tolerate mangoes, yay!) 🍍🍓🍈🍇 On the side we had gluten free marshmallows, melted dark chocolate and Nutella 🍫 
Paired with a bottle of red wine 🍷 this was my ultimate girls night feast! Went perfectly with watching the princess diaries!

Lunches for this week are mini frittatas and a side salad 🍳🥗 For the frittatas, I used roast pumpkin (which I made the other night), asparagus (blanched in boiling water for 1-2 minutes), goats cheese, chives, egg, salt and pepper. Although asparagus is considered high in fodmaps, each frittata has less than 1 whole spear in them and I seem to tolerate them fine. If you can't you could substitute spinach for some greens! 
Really healthy and REALLY filling 🤤
I had 2 with lunch and feel quite satisfied and that equals to about 2 eggs. I think maybe even 1 and a half would fill me though. Everyone is different!

Red capsicums are a truly #fodmapfriendly vegetable, as no FODMAPs were detected. Be careful with green #capsicum, while they are safe at 52g (1/2 cup) serves, anything more than 54g becomes high in sorbitol.

Today's lunch probably wasn't the healthiest, especially after a killer gym session. But, my god, it was the tastiest! 
Fodmap friendly fettuccini aglio e olio using gluten free fettuccini (I use @sanremopasta), @cobramestate extra virgin olive oil and a touch of garlic oil to get that garlic taste, cherry tomatoes, parsley, chilli flakes and pecorino cheese. I also topped it with some herbed grilled chicken and served with a side of Sicilian olives 🍝🍅🌶🧀❤️ I am half Italian and thoroughly enjoy eating Italian foods. I love fresh and simple ingredients that are easy to throw together. This dish is an all time fav because it's simple, delicious and super quick to make!

Who said being low FODMAP means that you can't still enjoy some avo toast? 🥑 
I like my avo toast best when the avocado is mashed with lime and mint! By far the tastiest combination I've tried so far. If you haven't tried it, highly recommend giving it a go! I also enjoy some pumpkin seeds for added texture, and a tiny bit of goats cheese to make it a little creamy 🐐🧀🥑🍞💕 The recommended fodmap serving size for avocado is 1/4 of an avo at a time. As avocado is high in sorbitol, exceeding this can really be tough on some individuals tums. Just stick to the recommended serving size until you've tested your individual tolerance. I still find I can cover two slices of toast decently with just a quarter! And then I mash and portion the other quarter of an avo into an airtight jar for my breakfast the next morning and keep the other half of the avo for adding to a salad etc.

Today's dish was house-cured salmon with a gluten free scotch egg, avocado puree, rice, grapefruit and crispy fried rice paper 🥑🍳🐟💕 It was delicious and the grapefruit added a nice element of bitterness. A nice alternative to a gluten free breakfast. I'll definitely be back again!

This mornings breakfast inspired by @basicbodiesguide 😍😋 I've been looking for easy and delicious gluten free pancakes forever! I dread looking at recipes that have 3/4 types of flour in them or an absolute mountain of sugar! These were really simple and I had all the ingredients on hand! 
1 mashed banana, 100ml of dairy-free milk (I used Nutty Bruce Almond milk), 1 egg and a heaped tablespoon of GF flour (probably about 1tbs and 1/2 with how much I put in). Mix it all together and voila! My favourite FODMAP way to eat out 🍣💕 If you live locally or can make it to the Glen Waverley area, Waya is the best affordable Japanese restaurant I've ever tried! I always get some sashimi and the waya maki (without spicy mayo because it has hidden fodmaps) and it's always so fresh! Plus there are plenty of options for your friends if they don't like sushi/sashimi! 
Highly recommend Japanese for a nice night out! Pair it with some edammame and you have a delicious and relatively healthy meal!

Wednesdays are by far my longest day of the week. I'm at uni from 8/8:30 am until 6pm! I would also consider myself someone who really relies on food as fuel! I honestly cannot concentrate through a whole day if all I'm thinking about is how hungry I am 😓

So here I thought I'd showcase how I'd pack a low FODMAP lunch to last me all throughout the uni day that's healthy and satisfying. 
Here we have -cut up strawberries, raspberries and blueberries 🍓
-two mandarins - @cobspopcorn plain salted popcorn - cut up cucumber and red capsicum - oven baked chicken seasoned with @mingleseasoning low fodmap seasoning, zucchini, carrot, green beans and a small serving of broccolini (whatever amount you can tolerate) 🍆🍅🥒🥕🍗 I always start my day at uni with 2 slices of @alpinebreads sprouted seeds fodmap certified bread and @mayversfood natural smooth peanut butter. I also keep a water bottle on me which I drink throughout the day! 
With all of this I feel super satisfied and am able to concentrate throughout all my classes (one of my classes alone is 3 hours!) and work on my assignments. 
I can post more ideas of uni/work friendly lunches if others are interested. Would also love to know what some of your go-to uni/work lunches are!

Clearly I was hungry 😂 
Last nights FODMAP friendly Father's Day roast dinner. Roast pumpkin, roast potatoes with rosemary and thyme, roast beef with rosemary and thyme, carrots, cauliflower (have successfully reintroduced) and the star of the show - FODMAP gravy 😍 
We winged the gravy a little bit and it turned out great! First we made a rue with gluten free flour and butter, then stirred through some beef stock made with the Massel 7's stock cubes (no garlic or onion) and then added the meat juices from the roasting pan. 
Definitely not the healthiest thing to top your meat with, but a nice Father's Day treat! 💕

En la dieta baja en FODMAPs el tamaño SI Importa 😂🙊y es que un alimento puede ser "apto" o "no apto" dependiendo de la ración (no pasa con todos pero, sí con algunos). Hay alimentos que aunque contengan una cantidad elevada de FODMAPs si se toman en una ración pequeña o moderada la cantidad de FODMAPs que se encontrarían en esa ración no es suficiente como para desencadenar síntomas. Por este motivo es tan importante que vayamos introduciendo los alimentos poco a poco y en cantidades en aumento para determinar nuestra tolerancia personal. Las raciones que yo os indico son siempre orientativas y basadas en la Monash University o Fodmap Friendly (dos instituciones que realizan estudios para determinar las raciones aptas y para determinar la presencia o no de FODMAPs en los alimentos). Según avanzan las técnicas de laboratorio, la detección de hace más precisa y algunos productos que antiguamente se pensaba que no eran aptos resulta que si lo son porque no se detecta en ellos ningún FODMAP (en la ración analizada).... Éste es el caso del pimiento redondo, tanto rojo como verde. En la ración testada (1 pimiento pequeño, 52g) no se detectan FODMAPs (oligosacáridos, disacáridos, monosacáridos y polialcoholes fermentables) y por tanto se puede comer libremente "sin miedo". No obstante, el pimiento contiene capsaicina (elemento que le otorga el sabor picante) que puede desencadenar ardores y molestias intestinales en algunos individuos.
