5 minutes of prep and I was diving my fork into this bowl of deliciousness. I had a bit of leftover steak and roasted cauliflower. In a frying pan I sautéed some garlic and red onion. I added the cauliflower, steak and some diced red cabbage with raw spiralized butternut squash (bought it at grocery store). I let it cook down a couple minutes and served it over a bed of spinach and topped with avocado, hemp hearts and a drizzle of pumpkin oil.

My whole family starts the day with a smoothie almost every morning. It’s easy and it makes me feel good to know we’re all starting the day with raw veggies and fruits.

Here are the ingredients in case you’re interested (mine is usually low in sugar because I am sensitive to blood sugar spikes):

Ginger root, Kale, Broccoli, Spinach, Granny smith apple, Carrot, Beet, Flax seeds, Chia seeds, Turmeric root, Black pepper, Cilantro, Parsley, Lemon juice, Hemp hearts, and Stevia.

For my husband, I also add a banana and berries.

The color isn’t so pretty like most green smoothies you see online but the lemon juice cuts through the bitterness of the veggies and the stevia provides just enough sweetness to make it pretty good! 😁

Let's talk sugar, I mentioned last night in my post that I no longer consider myself to have a sweet tooth. I've always loved cookies, cake, ice cream etc etc. What I've come to realize is that I never inherently had a sweet tooth, I just consumed a lot of sugar which fed my cravings for it. Cutting my sugar intake has been the single most important step to becoming more in tune with what my body really needs. I used to have a raging appetite almost all the time which usually led me to eat way too much of the wrong things. As I started to reduce my sugar intake (especially in the morning) and incorporate more fat into my diet my appetite started to normalize and the binge/restrict cycle started to come to an end. That's not to say I don't still love a good dessert. Now I reach for options low in sugar and rich in healthy fats that leave me feeling satisfied after one. If you find yourself struggling to find balance in your diet try becoming more conscious of your sugar consumption. It's a tough transition but so worth it in the end👌🏼 The recipe for these low sugar Superfood cookie dough bars is a few posts back. Happy hump day everyone!

I'm not really a 'fruit' person (ik, shocking.) I love vegetables in all their glorious forms but I find most fruit to be too sweet for my delicate digestive tract. I'm also not too big on smoothies but hey- it happens sometimes. Frozen blackberries/frozen bananas/homemade almond milk/mushroom powder/@naturesroot Amber CBD oil/@vitalproteins collagen powder/mesquite powder. Low on sugar and digestively calming as fuck. Stick some spinach in if you're feeling ballsy.
