Conversations with Bees: "The Old Worker". I'm so grateful for the whispers I shared with this seasoned honey bee this morning. Her wings, at their edges, slightly torn and battered; telltale signs of diligence, perseverance, and hard work! She is just one of thousands in her large hive, yet she is significant and she knows this. Nature programmed her well and she keeps on going, doing what she was designed to. It's beautiful, she's beautiful-this moment, this brief encounter, it's all so beautiful!
Beekeeping has changed SO many things for me. The way I look at life, myself and the world around me. I am so passionate about it, because it's opened my eyes to all those small things in life; the things that often go unnoticed, but would have a huge negative impact on our lives if they ceased to exist.
The little details, however small, are significant! You and I, like each honey bee in a hive, are small details in a much bigger universe. We often overlook our own value, down playing our significance. Sometimes we even tell ourselves we don't matter. We've all had down times, we've all been there. What we need to do is take time and remind ourselves and those around us that we all matter in some way.
This little gold and black beacon of truth, just a tiny little bee, was able to put things in perspective for me today. She connected with me deeply. I understand that her time here is nearing the end, her cycle completing, her tired aching wings from longs days of work are almost done, nearly spent. But she has accomplished what she was made for, what she was determined to do in her small life! Because of this, she will live on and on.
Each flowering plant she pollinated will forever thank her with each new seed and shoot propagated with her help. Her hive sisters will continue on in her path and those who went before her. We are all a lot like this little bee! Take some time this morning to think about your talents, your passions, the people you love. And remember to continue to nurture those things! In doing so, you are rewarding yourself but most importantly you are rewarding the world you are a part of! #beek#honeybee#beekeeper#beekeeping
Succulent pumpkins! Reposting pic that Casey @smalltownstripes posted today. I received a few messages regarding how long will these guys last. The pumpkin itself will last a couple of months. Once the pumpkin starts to soften then the moss which is attached to the top of the pumpkin can be gently removed with all the succulents. Place the entire topping in a container with soil or rocks and the succulents will continue to grow. The pumpkins have not been carved out. These sweet succulents are growing on top of the pumpkin! Water them weekly. Tip the pumpkin on its side after watering to remove puddling. #succulentpumpkin#luckettsgardengatherings#luckettstore#falltablescape#lucketts#succulove
Love this color combo - I've made a mental note for the next room design😍 This is another shot of @gardengatherings space at the shop that I took yesterday morning...you've got to see it! #itsfallyall#pumpkinseason 🍁🍂🐿
I got to the shop early this morning so that I could put a final coat of sealer on a piece, but when I got here I realized that I had forgotten my shop key🤦🏻♀️ This kind of thing happens daily in my life so I've hard to learn to roll with it. I started snapping pics while waiting for someone to arrive, and just enjoyed some quiet time in my Happy Place. I think the whole #blessed hashtag thing is a bit overused but I gotta say I'm feelin it today😀 Have a great Saturday and remember friends, just roll with it!
