An eclectic lot, this, but good insight into the sheer range of cool stuff available in Japan. Most of the stickers come from the amazing designers at @bsidelabel5892 in Harajuku, whose work is excellent. The Halloween stickers are department store freebies while the Star Jets label commemorates the imminent closure of the beloved Tokyo Disneyland institution.
The good luck charm is from Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, and is to "ward off evil" (very helpful in my line of work). @coldrain_official was one of the bands playing on the omnipresent advertising semi-trailers circling Shibuya and, if you like metalcore, you need to check them out (looking at you, @rhearipley_wwe). The wrist band was a Tower Records freebie (not sure whether it came with the album, or whether the guy behind the counter was just impressed by a gaijin wanting local music). The dice were a HeroQuest gift from @juszcosplay (thank you again, babe) and there just isn't enough Dry Bones merch in the world (he's my favourite!) so you grab it when you see it.
And, finally, there's Screamin' Meemie the Madball. Damn, but I loved the original... so much so that, upon seeing this new incarnation, my mum recalled its name immediately (not bad for a non-geek). Madballs were huge for me as a kid (loved the two-part cartoon with all its Gilliam-esque lunacy) and I've been searching for an original for some time. Meemie here was the very first thing I bought in Shibuya... figures you have to go halfway 'round the world to find what you're looking for.
Here's my entries for @strangekidsclub's Create Your Own "Cereal Monster" Sticker contest. All mashed up in an awesome Madballs style! I decided to go with twisted versions of Tony the Tiger (Fat Toni) and the Honey Smacks Frog (Smacky the Honey Frog). Congrats to all the winners, the entries were awesome! Check out Strange Kids Club to see all the gruesome fun. Maybe I'll do something with these down the line!
