I am all about a good shower while on the road and this campground shower gets 💦💦💦💦💦 from me; it has a code to get in, heat knob so you are nice and warm when you are inside, nice hot water and for $1.25 I got the most majestic shower yet. #campgroundshower#majestic#roadtrip#iloveagoodshower
Looking back to a few years ago, I had another awesome opportunity to work closely with an eagle that, since I could read, has been my favourite bird on earth. It still is!!! The African Crowned Eagle - Stephanoaetus coronatus
Someone walking along the beach in the Bluff, (of all places! Only a South Africans would understand this :) ), had seen a bird struggling in the waves of the ocean. A young crowned eagle, exhausted, had somehow ended up in the water and was flapping to shore. It was barely alive. The kind-hearted soul (and VERY lucky soul for two reasons), picked the bird up in a towel, and took it to CROW - Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife. He was lucky because a) these birds are very special and he was able to get close to such a majestic creature, and b) these birds are phenomenally powerful, and those talons can do far more damage than most people could ever realise....!!! Garth and I met and we went to where the bird was housed in a rehab. It had recovered well. The purpose of the visit was the ring the beautiful eagle, which I estimate was somewhere around 2 - 3 years old. We went into the cage, rather terrified, and managed to catch the bird, and ringed it.
These birds are like the leopards of the sky!!! They are so agile, quick, stealthy, and intelligent, as well as being breathtakingly beautiful! I will do a full write up on them in future, where I can boast about all the magnificent aspects of this top-class creature!
Have you ever been lucky enough to see one?
I am so intrigued to know if any records of this individual have ever been picked up since this day?! Have an awesome Thursday everyone!
